Argentina is the type of team that lets off the gas out of habit, so I'm not too worried. You have to be Panama level bad for them to keep racking up goals, and in that case Messi was trying to get into game shape anyway. Funny to say that after the game he just had. I know what you mean, he can let in some bad ones (the one against Chile in this very tournament for instance), but man he has saved Argentina's bacon through their momentary lapses, too. And he's come up big in PKs.
I'm not arguing for the sake of oneupsmanship dude - I'm saying there is a long complicated history between the two boards and you might not care to appreciate that that thread mocks everyone and everything, but you have a limited view of the full picture of the history and may be deserving of my sanctimony if you think it's ok to treat Mexico mods with disrespect because they don't deserve otherwise.
Hmmm. Does not seem too complicated. Mexico fans behave like dirtbags with no repercussions. US fans must take the high road or get carded. In a way, I am fine with it. Clearly draws a line between the fan bases. But when their moderators who spend most of their time trolling US fans come here pretending to be one of the crowd, I kind of hope they are asked to return to the pigpen they built.
Like I said earlier, how we act and react says a lot about us. Your post is a case in point. And you probably shouldn't comment on something you don't know much about. Anyway - I have no issue with US fans mercilessly mocking here our biggest rival for one of the greatest soccer humiliations of the century so carry on.
It would be a great point if it were true. Mexico fans who come here to troll get forum banned and carded too. They just do it less often. They also don't treat the posters and mods with a "mow my lawn" attitude. We should stick to worrying about our team and mocking our rivals here.
Showing CONCACACAF support! I know, everyone on these boards had Mexico losing 7-0 in a truly epic man whipping for the ages. This was no normal defeat. This was personal. I wonder if things happened behind the scenes because it wasn't so much that mexico looked sluggish, Chile simply played at some higher level of physical existence.
Just saw all the drama with Mods and Red cards. I kind of find it typical. As someone whose schooled and lived in both places, there is definitely a strain of child petulance that mixes pettiness and violence among many mexican men. It comes out at all usual times. When the egos have been brushed with failure owing to a. a woman, b. a loss of something in competition. Americans show this same frustration differently, mainly through social isolation and it has different triggers. Chile gave Mexico a serious beat down. It was complete. Learn from it and move on.
Had a crazy day yesterday so I ended up recording the game and didn't finish watching until around 1:30am. Woke up this morning and went back to read the commentary on this thread; great way to start Father's Day!
Just curious, you now live in Canada, right? So what' the USA angle? Did you come from Argentina to the USA first before moving to Canada? Are your parents or one of your parents American?
That's what I've been saying and somehow got rebuked for it, like I'm a traitor or negative or something; got said thankfully I'm not a player so what I say doesn't matter... Weird. I even said we might score a couple of goals by Dempsey, and might hold them to just a couple (it's very hard to stop their brilliant offense) for a 2-2, so I didn't mean bunker all 90 minutes long. I said it's the path I see for a victory and it will be wonderful if it happens - and got all sorts of flack for it. Then, we're criticizing Mexicans for being over-confident. We are facing Argentina, the #1 team in the world. They do have weakness (their defense) but if we approach them like Mexico approached Chile, we are toast. We have to have a very solid and focused strategy from the start. Not impossible but hard. Any cocky attitude is likely to backfire.
Being respectful is what some people fail to understand. You really do have to treat different boards like a funeral and be on your best behavior. Losses to supporters are really like having to watch your dog die slowly of parvo. Its a shitty thing to have to see and no one wants to have to deal with taunts or any mocking. Donald Trump can get away with saying anything anywhere because he has FU money. Us mere mortals have to understand that we don't have the same leeway. Invading an opposing board is never a good idea especially when your entire reason for being there is to indulge in childish taunting.
This is clearly not true. Players are trying their best to win this tournament. It turned out to be a lot more important than what some people initially thought, calling it a glorified friendly tournament. For Argentina, 23 years without a major title while in the same time span Brazil had 10, winning this is very important.
The shock to me was that Mexico straight up quit at 2-0. The score was run up because of a shocking lack of pride by the Mexican team. I guess being on such a long glorious run without defeat left them shocked by what they were facing but the response seemed gutless. I'm really shocked. I knew it would be a close game but I really saw Mexico in the final against Argentina. As a 30 year USMNT fan part of me gets great joy by the beat down but I've come to root for our concacaf peers in these competitions and I'm disappointed we don't have half the semifinalists. Also, I cling to the hope that our Mexican American friends will come to see the USA as their "second favorite" team and I don't think that taunting them over results like this will help that ever come true.
Even if you take out Osorio's tactical miscues, Mexico did not look athletic enough anywhere on the pitch to keep up with Chile.
Agreed. I saw on TV in the USA-Ecuador game a clearly Latina lady, middle-aged, short, your typical Mexican Indian-looking person, dressed in our colors and holding our flag, passionately rooting for the USA and tearfully joyful with our win. That's beautiful. There *are* Mexican-Americans who integrate and believe in our country, feel grateful for all that we have offered them, and contribute to our society like anyone else who was born here or legally immigrated here.
Sorry for being clueless and maybe not paying attention, but what's with all the Michael Jordan memes regarding the Mexican National Team? Is this something Jordan said? Would someone please explain this to me?
Look I don't carry much sympathy for people who go over there to just troll after a big loss and get banned. That said the mods are pretty awful. You'll get tagged in the GWoS and when you respond you'll immediately get told Stupid Gringo Posts or GTFO" by a mod. It's an extremely antagonistic forum, but has extremely sensitive mods who crack down on anyone who disrupts the circle j**k of memes or straw man arguments. And BSMX posters get away with a lot more here, which is a good thing BTW Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
