Wunderbar !!!! Agreed... Hit your fist on the table, look Jogi in the eyes and tell him to wake up! Kimmich/Boa/Hummels/hector --------------Weigl------------------ -----Kroos------------oezil------- Sane----------Muller----------Schurrle How daring would that be... this would either be like a total new team that wins, or it might fail horribly!
I was actually about to ask the Bayern guys whether Kimmich would be able to take Höwedes' place who isn't offering anything for the offense and has a bad first touch. He was a pain to watch. But it was proposed already here. Draxler tried his best but I also agree that the next game should be used to give other players the chance to show what they can do. I'd like to see Sane as well. For whatever reason, the team isn't working right now.
We lack fullbacks help, our midfield isn't controlling the game as well as it should, our striker non existent, our pace on the wings non existent, our build up play in the final third lackluster and slow, our complacent level at a historic high since August 2014, Boateng and Neuer saving our ass yet again from the last tournament, we are missing some vets that are sorely needed and Boateng and Neuer saving our assess since WC 2014 (did I mention that already? Good) Does that some up Germany so far?
You forgot to mention...we lack a coach that can make decisions , like bringing on Kimmich and SANE, Dropping Goetze and Hoewedes
Could use a prime lahm, piggy, Klose and add gundogan and Reus on the team right now and we would be destroying
Anyone explain why an awful finisher like Goetze is being put at the top to score Germany's goal? Loew has had a habit of having awful lineups in the group stage in every tournament he's been in.
This forum is delivering ... everytime Germany doesn't deliver there is always a meltdown in here. Love it!
I love the meltdown Ballack had about the lack of character. Like, "former NT player who never won something explains world champions how to win"
I honestly don't think we played that poorly (no reason to panic) - however there were a few glaring things that came out of this game: Gotze - At this point, he's nowhere near the player he was 2-3 years ago. He looks frantic and lost right now. using Gomez would allow us to vary our offense somewhat, and would provide an aerial target as well as give guys like Draxler and Ozil more space. See above. Boateng was excellent. His game has developed so much over the last 2-3 years..... especially going forward. Hector has been good, but Hoewedes just isn't the quality of FB needed for this squad. He is a decent player, but just doesn't provide the necessary technical skills to interchange with Ozil, Muller, etc. Khedira has been very wasteful in attack, but his positional play with Kroos has been very good imho. I wish Kroos would be more direct with his play at times, but his technical skills and awareness are unreal. I miss watching him on a regular basis.
Performance (lack of it) was a huge letdown, albeit not surprising based on the EC qualification form. It was clear the team was going to struggle offensively with the type of players we have. The team has no width and with the exception of Sane, the bench does not offer width or solutions to the problems. A lot of people want Gomez which makes sense based on form but the players Loew brought to France are not suited to play for Gomez. Our midfield needs a mobile striker that is able to link play and make space with runs, such a player is not in the squad. Might be worth trying Podolski in the false 9. Bottom line is this team have many limitations. Team has been training to play a certain system for the Euro and Loew is not going to change that now - he does not have the personnel to do so. Most he can do is switch a couple of players (replace Goezte with someone and try to ingest some dynamism with Sane). You may recall we had similar problems in 2014 but that team had Klose and Lahm that can provide offensive creativity. With the exception of dropping a couple of players Loew's only option is to be pragmatic - be defensive and conservative going forward (win ugly). I only see one scenario where this team plays well offensively, score early and play on the counter. Situation is what it is. Team needs to grind out results the ugly way. While we all except and want the attacking display we've gotten used to, this team just does not have it.
I don't know if you're referring to me, but I was wondering even in the 2-0 win. The good news is that Loew after his awful starting XIs tends to fix things by the KO rounds.
well seems like Gotze's performance has inspired someone. http://www.goal.com/euro2016/en/art...-ireland-euro-2016/10xai1bkz8e2x1xkhlok3jvigv
Agreed on all points, with one exception, or clarification rather. At the WC, Schweinsteiger played as the most defensive midfielder in the 4-3-3 and I would hardly call him a natural 6. If he was fit for 90 minutes, Jogi would probably play that way again, dunno if we'll see that at this tournament ( or ever again, realistically ). I guess he doesn't trust Kimmich or Weigl to fill that role just yet. Wouldn't be the first time Jogi uses different approaches in qualification/group stage/knockout matches though, actually it would be pretty much a first if he didn't. So we'll see what he cooks up for the round of 16. I'd kinda like to see a 3-4-3 with one of the central midfielders playing at right midfield, but for all we know that wasn't trained in the prep and would require massive adjustments, so not gonna happen.
87th minute - Schürrle sleeps/loses the ball and gets thrashed by Boa for about a minute of play. There is a lot wrong within the team https://streamable.com/pohw
Boa had a go at Müller as well and openly called out the offense in an interview. It was discussed after the game and I think it would be much ado about nothing in regards to making assumptions about a bad tone/atmosphere within the team. The involved players didn't have a problem with it afterwards and the team management encourages it. I think he exagerrated a little bit but it would be worse if no one said anything when something goes wrong. Boateng seems intent on taking on more responsibilities and I believe that the team needs more players to actually take control of things. As long as he backs it up with good performances, he is in a good position to do that.
