Chile is going to destroy Mexico on this one, much better team and it seems like they are finally starting to click after yesterday's game. Mexico has gone from more to less since the beginning of the tournament.

    Chile 3-0Mexico

Should be a fun match. I can see it going either way.

This should be the best matchup of this QF round. Two evenly matched teams. I'm hoping for a bit more wide open and up and down game than last game where they only score 1 goal combined. Hoping for at least 3 goals and no PKs.

This should be a tight, well fought match.
Hopefully, there will be a lot of goals scored for both sides.

Can both teams lose? I don't want either one of these in the semi-finals.

    My prediction is Mexico though.

What's the rule for Quarter Finals and Semi finals?
Do we have over time if there is a tie?
Or we go straight to PKs?

Right now I think Mexico is better and Chile has a terrible record agaionst Mexico in Copas Americas, I think Chile won only once in 2011 but I think that Mexican team was a B team.
And Mexico is basically playing at home. So yeah, Mexico wins.

this is no joke. Chile will truly feel like they're in Mexico but I don't see Mexico as the better team. I think they're both very similar both strong attacking teams but I feel Chile has stronger game changers but Mexico has a better manager.

    Mexico 3-0 Chile.

Chile were clicking... against a porous Panama side. They needed a terrible call at the end of the game to beat Bolivia, and honestly look underwhelming. Their backline has constantly been torched, and Mexico has traditionally dominated Chile. Hell, Chile couldn't beat Mexico's "B" team in the Copa at home.

Mexico has one of the best offensive attacks right now, and as long as they keep a consistent formation. Their backline has been shaky but overall has played much better than Chile. Mexico will basically be playing at home too. Mexico is on fire.

This one's going to get ugly for Chile, folks.

I have a lot of respect for that Chile team. I can't see this being more than a 1-goal game. I just hope there is plenty of scoring. I'll be at this game.

I don't see this being 3-0, because the sides are closely matched. You can get 50/50 matches that end 3-0 because the team that gets the first goal gets a confidence boost, and puts in a couple on the counter attack, however this match is more likely to be 0-0, 1-1, 0-1, 2-1 etc.

Chile's form has been weak for some months now, as well as in this tournament, but the last game was better. It could go either way.

I see Mexico are the favourites in the betting.

Valdivia has played a few great matches for Chile, but is not that consistent and probably not one of their key players. He's been for a number of years now a player on the fringe of the side.

Should be a good game both teams will come to play. Either team could go on to the semis.

Let's hope for a good game here. Today's earlier game was a bit lacking in tension, and yesterday's was a bit dull. Would be a shame if the tournament follows the all too predictable path of excitements in the group stages followed by dull matches in the latter stages.

Mexico to lose 2-1. I hope Chile humiliates the Mexican bigots who think their team is world class. If Mexico wins this cup we will not hear the end of it...

On the contrary, he was key player for the team in last year's CA, the same as the WC qualifier matches that came afterwards.
Reasons why he hasn't played lately for the NT, is because he offended the referee (he gave him a reminder about his mom....), right after the WC qualifier match played past November in Montevideo, which meant him a post-match red card, with 4 match ban for it. This is also the reason why he wasn't called for this CAC, according to Pizzi (although he really doesn't like him).

He might get called for the coming WC qualifiers in September (but still too early to confirm anything)

Maybe you're right, it sounds like you know more about the Chile team anyway. It does seem he has been in and out of the side a bit though. Why did he hardly play at all at the 2014 world cup, if he such an important player? Was injury an issue there, or form at the time, or something?

One of the problems with Valdivia, is that he is a very fragile type of player. That's the fate of all talented players. Other players hit him a lot, which always has him with injuries or recovering from them.

For 2014, he was coming out from a very serious one that almost meant him, his place in the WC roster, but as he recovered just in time, he finally did get the call. During the WC, he played the whole match vs. Australia (where he scored our second goal), 20 minutes vs. Netherlands, 5 minutes vs. Spain (only didn't play vs. Brazil). He also played in all 4 of our matches during the 2010 WC.
