Should be a nice step up in competition for Jerome. It's time for him to establish himself as a first team player. Fortuna Düsseldorf verpflichtet Jerome #Kiesewetter vom @VfB. Mehr Infos in Kürze auf https://t.co/sIheP0GUFO. #f95 pic.twitter.com/yxa2ariUzD— Fortuna Düsseldorf (@f95) June 10, 2016
They finished 3 points off relegation but it's something. Great stadium too, especially if it's full.
Seems like a nice guy based on the interviews I've heard. I was sort of hoping he'd come to MLS, but hopefully this turns out to be a good move for him!
And scored less than a goal a game. Certainly it all depends on their other acquisitions, but it would seem there's an opportunity to establish himself in an anemic offense.
That's definitely a vast improvement over situation. He went from the worst team in the 3. BL who he wasn't receiving much p.t. anymore for, to a remaining team in the 2. BL. I have to think the U.S. u-23 involvement and couple caps for the senior team helped here.
a pretty good move on paper. Wasn't going to get 1BL minutes with Stuttgart and is too old to be a 3L or reserve player. Time to see what he is--- 2BL has done that before (Wood vs. Wooten).
Thread title: Forecast calls for goals: Kiesewetter at Düsseldorf My German, despite having a ridiculously German last name, is not good, but i believe Kiesewetter literally is translated, "To choose the weather", no?
'Sewetter's Fine: Jerome Kiesewetter at Düsseldorf If we're going to stick with this thread, could we please merge with this one: http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/jerome-kiesewetter.1784695/ And maybe even this one: http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/jerome-kiesewetter-at-vfb-stuttgart.1268061/ If not, I guess we at least have these links for posterity.
The Best Time to wear a Kiesewetter is all the Time: Jerome Kiesewetter at Fortuna Dusseldorf (A reference the old people wont get for once)
You looked this up, didn't you? Kiese(n) is a medieval German word and was already considered outdated in the early 19th century, so most current native speakers probably have no idea what it means. It's related to the English word choose, but actually means "to see". Kiesewetter means weather prophet or soothsayer.
Despite what anyone else thinks, there CAN BE ONLY ONE title for this thread: Semper Crescis - Jerome Kiesewetter at (O) Fortuna Dusseldorf. I know that's a bit high-brow for these parts, but the "(O)" should be all the clue you need to figure it out! PLEASE - I've been waiting for years for a Yank at this club!!!!!
To be fair, choose can actually be one of several meanings of the word (see, pry, examine, consider, taste, choose - according to Grimm's German Dictionary).
I would just go with O Fortuna: Jerome Kiesewetter at Fortuna Dusseldorf Let's see wetter he will succeed...
This Bild interview seems to focus on his insistence that he is a setup man, not a scorer, and that as a kid he was nicknamed "Jerry" after the cartoon mouse: http://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/f...ore-sind-andere-zustaendig-46359840.bild.html
Nice, quick interview. He says that he got that nickname because he's so fast and that his quickness also contributes to his play on the field. He says he grew up in Berlin-Tempelhof and that it was rough. I love Tempelhof, though, so bleh! Hahaha. There, he says, he learned to want things more than others and that from that "rocky" field he grew up and learned to play soccer. Sounds like a strong kid. Look forward to watching him next year. Düsseldorf is right around the Corner.
