Mexico would be wise to at least draw. C2-positioned team would have to face D1 and I can guarantee Argentina sweeps the group. Bolivia and Panama are fodder for them now that Messi is gonna play.

This one has a lot riding on it. Whoever wins the group has a decidedly easier path to the final simply having to not play argentina and possibly colombia.

Stakes are high on this one. Congrats to Venezuela for pulling out the win against Uruguay.

Mexico should win this one but if Venezuela gets the same chances Jamaica did it could get really, really interesting.

All Mexico needs here is a tie. Any reason for them to push up and play aggressive here? I only see that happening if Venezuela takes the lead. This Venezuela squad has thoroughly surprised me. I'm still waiting for a letdown...

Venezuela is the only team that hasn't conceded a goal yet. I'm excited to see Mexico pop this cherry. Mexico should really take note of what's happened with Colombia and Brazil.

I am impressed with how Mexico has played so far. I expect them to reach at least the semi final round

Mexico will not be playing for a draw. They're very aggressive and according to Elo ratings, this is the best team they've ever fielded. Brazil played passively and it ended horribly, so there's no reason to lose their swagger.

Of course, Venezuela is riding on huge momentum; they're the underdog and the crisis in their country is inspiring them.

Mexico's defense looked suspect, but they've only given up one goal, and they're still undefeated for a year. Venezuela has only scored 2 goals, so I'm not sure Venezuela will pressure the Mexican backs in the same way Jamaica did (the Reaggae Boyz are a very tough nut to crack). Venezuela's strength has been defense; 2 shutouts in consecutive games is swagger.

I pick Mexico 2-0 Venezuela. This one will be close to start but Mexico will yet again find a way to win.

Why no Ochoa? He could've saved that.

because JCO pulled a Peckerman and underestimated their opponents by not starting half the usual roster. Now, like Colombia, they're about to end up as runner up. Plus, as @GolCaracol stated, Venezuela's victory over Suarezguay as well as the determination to become a beacon of hope for their nation in these times of crises is driving them to beat Mexico and quell their offense well.
