Peruvians with 3 shoulder charges in their Area, most I've seen in a single game (Watching slightly delayed)
Wow, just a disastrous situation. Took forever for the crew to get their information together (the mass crowding of the players didn't help), and they end up not spotting the handball.
I have to agree, perfect instance where you want someone there to have that additional pair of eyes to work with
Can you blame the referee team? The video from behind the goal made it clear, but neither the AR or CR would have been in position to see it.
A. All of the replays I saw on the broadcast are rather ambiguous and one of them looks like it came off his thigh. B. I think you always call this if you see it, but was it deliberate? I don't know that he could have avoided it. C. I don't think the crew had any choice but to declare it a goal.
https://streamable.com/b3hm For me, the last overhead angle appears to show a slight swinging motion towards the ball. In realtime, and with the other angles I think it may be hard to spot, but if I had that one on a video review I wouldn't allow the goal. Unfortunately we do not have that option yet, nor do we have AARs at this tournament, so I agree that this was very hard to call in real time with a single look.
I think the AR had a decent look at it, and from his body language, seems very matter of fact and calm. So, he's on the mic with the the 4O who is 55 yds away? If the 4O put enough doubt in the ref's mind to ignore the AR, he served him very poorly. Ball in goal 74:45. Decision made 78:00. Fwiw, it looks like he indicates goal immediately after but didn't see that his ar had info for him. Regardless, he should know that the decision is between him and his AR. Make a decision and go with it. And if your AR sees something you didn't, go with him.
