Wouldnt you be playing against peru or ecuador in QF in our side of the bracket with this result? Brasil would play colombia on the other side
Called it ... Big mistake to rest Ospina, Zapata, Murillo and Arias. Goalkeepers and defenders don't need rest in a tournament ... they need continuity.
The US topped their group. Do you still think they're playing Brazil? I told you at the very beginning here, Colombia haven't beaten us yet. There were still too many variables for you to just assume X outcome.
Colombians played for second since the begining. All they wanted to do, was to avoid confronting Argentina on their route to the finals, and so, if nothing else happens (like Argentina losing to Bolivia, together with a very big win by either Panama or Chile), at most they'll only meet them at the final match.
If we're going to damage this year we'll have to meet you anyway. Not worried about the game, it should be a good barometer of what we CAN do right now. WCQ kicks off again soon, and this is a "fun" environment where we can grow.
If Peru beats Brazil, you'll wonder if it was for the best or for the worse. Besides, if the USA wins next game, they'll face Argentina, with Messi completely recovered, at the semi's.
This is the worst logic I've witnessed in quite some time. So Colombia wants Brazil instead of Ecuador/Peru (likely) because they don't want to face Argentina in a mythical match that they haven't even got to yet?
Yes, compared to Argentina playing at their best, this Brazil is "a walk in the park", for almost everyone with a decent level. Besides, last time they played, where Brazil even played with their top player Neymar, Colombia won. While since Pekerman trains Colombia, they've always lost to them (even playing at home), and the best they achieved has been draws. Pekerman has always been a great tactician, and with the pass to quarters the match before this last one, together with knowing the result of the other match of their group, gave him the edge on this one. The fact both last matches were played at diferent hours, once again proves it creates an unfair advantage to whom plays later
You sure about that? The last 10 minutes of the game seems to be evidence that Colombia wanted the point. They were throwing everybody forward. Anyone that thinks Brazil is an easy game is crazy. With this kind of mentality they will lose to Brazil anyways and then they don't have to worry about Argentina. A more realistic theory is that Pekerman just did't respect Costa Rica and expected his B team to get at least 1 point. Most likely he wanted to avoid any red cards or injuries for the quarterfinal. It was a stupid decision and it'll probably cost them.
