Anybody near the stadium in Philly? Please let the Uruguayan players(and the coach) know that the game already started. Thanks
Wow, would've never, ever bet on Uruguay going out in the group stage in a Copa America. Game still not over, but still...
Uruguay's sportsmanship against Chile at the Copa America last year was an absolute joke and wasn't much better in their first match at this year's tournament. Most teams have 1 or 2 nasty pieces of work, but Uruguay seems too have 4 or 5. Muslera is one of them. The way their players complain to the referee (giving the referee a choice of backing away or being knocked over) is a disagree. I just with the refs would stand their ground, get knocked over, and sent someone off. Suarez is clearly a big miss for them, especially after the amazing season he's had especially since whoever replaces him is never particularly good. I liked Uruguay a few years ago. Fucile was a great defender at his peak, and Forlan seemed like a a nice guy. Not so keen on them any more.
Football's gonna help Venezuela come out of their bankrupty after decades of socialism and baseball. But mostly baseball.
If Mexico wins (likely) then both Uruguay and Jamaica are for sure eliminated and the last two matches would sadly just be dead rubbers. To be fair for Cavani he did create the chance for himself a bit.
A lot of football tournaments are more exciting in the group stages. But a tournament will rarely be remembered as a great tournament if the semis and final are boring. Let's see how it ends.
Uruguay made the same mistakes of chiefly basing their attack on Suarez and a then-active Forlan since 2009. With Forlan retired and Suarez either injuring himself or getting suspended for fouls or biting they've paid dearly since the World Cup after getting plowed by Costa Rica and Colombia. It's the same thing that cost Brazil their semifinal match. Argentina at the very least tries to not focus on Messi as much as possible (granted, he wasn't used vs Chile) and that helped them reach two international finals in a row.
