It seems that other networks have their own topics but not ESPN even though it shows a ton of soccer.

This Sunday we'll have simultaneous soccer on both ESPN and ESPN2. Copa del Rey final on ESPN2 at 3:30 ET and MLS on the mothership at 4:30 with kick off at 5:00 ET. Other than big tournaments where last group games kick off simultanously, I don't recall this happening before. Huge success for the game considering that ESPN likes to push the game to espn3 and Deportes on a regular basis.

Moreno and Palomo to call the game live from Madrid, too. Have they done that before?

As I prepare a TV guide for a bunch of Int'l Friendlies coming up before Euro 2016, I am seeing no less than 19 Friendlies involving European teams scheduled to be shown on ESPN. Almost all on ESPN Deportes, most on espn3 and a handful on ESPN2.

All matches will be posted here: http://soccertvblog.com/friendlies-tv/

I mentioned this in the Euro thread but I have noticed that the content streamed on the "New" ESPN app looks better on my android devices than the Watch ESPN app.
Something to keep in mind for those of you on the go or at work during matches.:D

Wouldn't that be the same app?

    Nope.
The "New" ESPN App has news articles , stats , scores and WatchESPN streams.
WatchESPN is an older app that has been around for years.

I wouldn't be surprised if Monica Gonzalez has a strong future at ESPN in general, not just soccer. Looks, poise, and athletic credibility.

Just seemed weird that probably the biggest single match in Germany all season was only available on ESPND (in terms of normal/accessible TV channels), while we had matches like Schalke v Borussia M** on terrestrial TV earlier in the season.

** Or something like that (Don't remember exactly which matches were on the main FOX channel but IIRC there were some that didn't feature either Bayern or Dortmund).

NCAA contract may have prevented that. I don't recall the time. I watched online.

    Oh la la! :)

I think there was an update to WatchESPN about the time when the "new" ESPN app started being promoted, hence my confusion.

I once found myself in a hotel bar next to him. It was absolutely glorious.

I hope I can have the honor of having a similar experience with Tommy Smyth.

Since people seem to love to complain in these types of threads I will join the party.

The audio for the Germany- Slovakia friendly stream is a bit off. I don't know if it is ESPN's fault or the feed itself.

Belgium’s loss is ESPN’s gain. Superstar Manchester City defender and Belgian national star Vincent Kompany will miss the Euro 2016 tournament with a groin injury, but will remain involved in the proceedings by making appearances on ESPN as a studio analyst.

“It is very unfortunate that injury has prevented Vincent from leading the Belgium National Team in this tournament,” said ESPN senior coordinating producer Amy Rosenfeld, “but we are delighted that he is joining us to provide a fresh, off-the-field analysis to our viewers.”

Kompany will be working Euro 2016 for the BBC too.

    Interesting.
I guess they are rolling the dice that Belgium will live up to expectations.

Vincent Kompany, Belgium National Team and Manchester City FC captain, will join ESPN as a studio analyst for the UEFA European Football Championship 2016 (June 10 - July 10). Kompany is unavailable to represent Belgium due to a thigh injury sustained during Manchester City’s 2015-2016 Premier League campaign.

They could have put the Ali coverage on ESPN2, ESPN News simultaneously.

Boxing is for the old generation. Soccer is the future and has a key younger demo they should be focusing on.

He was an icon. He was bigger than a single sport. Copa matches had a moment of silence for his passing.

I know that. Hence, I said to put it on two stations.
But I don't know of anyone under 40 really talking about Ali's death. They have moved on by now.
