Höwedes could play as well, if Jogi fields Kimmich or Can as right back or calls Rudy or Ginter or Weiser as replacements for Rüdiger. Mustafi is more likely though I guess.
you could be right about the replacement for Rudiger in the squad being the starter against Ukraine, after all Mustafi was picked in WC14 because Reus got injured and he got a start over all the defensive players that were actually picked for the tournament.
He won't and he shouldn't. Huth is only good at defending in the box ( Strafraumverteidigung ) and that is a situation this German team is never in for extended periods of time. The guy is just not suited to the more attacking and continental style of football Jogi has his team play. If Jogi wants to call a central defender as replacement, it should be someone like Tah ( great athlete like Rüdiger ) or Stark ( balanced player, still has some way to go, but a lot top teams are very interested ). Ginter would be another option and should argueably have been on the initial squad already. Not sure what problem Jogi has with him.
well when half of our recent goals conceded were from corners/free kicks that might not be a bad thing.
I hope not he was terrible in the game against England in which he replaced Hummels at half time, which just happens to be when England came back and won the game (2nd half). I don't trust him in center defense after only playing 1 game for Germany. Maybe post Euro he can be tried again.
I guess kimmich would do better then him , was Tah part of the u21 in preparation in Ascona? Maybe Loew will replace him with a total different player .. Remember he brought mustafi for reus 2 years back ! Who ever he brings will probably not feature much anyway . Hoewedes /kimmich /mustafi could all play for Rudiger ! Real shame I just started believing that Rudiger /boateng were starting to gel well on the field !
Why not? Have y'all watched him play for Leverkusen? Boateng 2.0 in the making. It's not like Mustafi covered himself in glory while playing for the NT either.
Shocking news for Rüdiger personally and for the team's morale. But I'd hoped that Mustafi would be played over Rüdiger anyway. I also think Löw is right with Tah (or any other CB) replacing Rüdiger. Höwedes is just not fit enough yet to play the more crucial role in the center of the defense replacing Rüdiger and allowing Löw to call up somebody like Weiser. So if we ignore the personal drama for Rüdiger it's without too much of an influence for the team despite the fact that Rüdiger was chosen by Löw to replace Hummels in the first couple of matches. Rüdiger got injured due to a tackling with Müller. That's a sign how serious they practise (good thing imo) but if Müller is somehow responsible for Rüdiger's injury due to a cruel or clumsy tackling that could get into the heads of the players. I hope they can overcome this like they did with Reus's injury in 2014. I actually did very often and got to the opinion that Tah is brutally overhyped by media/fans. He's very physical and fast (especially for his body size) but he also lacks positional awareness and his tacklings are very average and lead to a lot of fouls. He looked better in the end of the season when Roger Schmidt stopped playing such a ridiculous high line but I'm not sure that's a good sign for the NT at all. Also the references to the young Boateng are true imo but are also including the clumsiness and sometimes flawed game of the young J. Boateng.
So does that now mean that Germany are the only team with 4 x U21 players? Also the youngest of the tournament now?
Eigentlich wurde ich nachnominiert! Habe aber abgesagt! Sie müssen auch mal ohne mich Titel holen🏆 @DFB_Team 😂🐟💪🏻 pic.twitter.com/4qMY86WN1G— Kevin Großkreutz (@fischkreutz_KG) June 8, 2016
