Thanks Sid for putting up these threads. You know what might be nice is if in these threads, links to the matchday thread(s) in the respective country forums (e.g. USMNT), once those threads are created. Of course I can find those threads the old way but I find this new "Copa'16" tab super quick & easier to navigate.

Make or break game for the USA if we don't win this game we are done I this group a simple draw will not be enough.

I truly expect and want the USMNT to advance, it was a decent game against Colombia regardless of the final score.
Is is true that Edgar Castillo was called to replace an injured player?
This guy was solid the whole last season with the Rayados.
But so was Omar Gonazalez with Liga MX Champions Pachuca, wonder why he wasn't called...
And the "Mexican born" :D William Yarbrough? That guy was not just solid; he was among the best if not the best goalie. (wonder if we can still cap him :cautious:)

    Good luck against Los Ticos!

Do or die for the USA. Can't lose or else there's no second round. Can draw but that makes the Paraguay game even more dangerous.

I predict a win. Especially since I have never been to an official game in which the USA has lost!
    Sweet home Chicago!

Huge match for the USA... a win, and assuming Paraguay doesn't beat Colombia means we go 2nd with 3 points and will most likely only need a draw from our final match. Finishing 2nd in this group may actually not be as bad a previously thought, as Brazil may not even finish first in their group. Looking forward to this 2nd round of games as tournaments tend to really get going at this time after the "feeling each other out" 1st set of games. It's do-or-die at this time so I expect the qualify of play to go up quite a bit now.

Playing Ecuador in New Jersey would be like playing them in Quito without the altitude.
There's thousands of Ecuadoreans in the NY/NJ area so it may not be that much easier.
Lot's of Peru fans in the area as well come to think of it.

But back to USA-Costa Rica. If Pulisic and Nagbe play (and play well) we win. It is a simple as that in my book. The future is now.

True. Its still early but its starting to look as though one half of the bracket could be a lot tougher to get through than the other half. Even if Brasil win their group, the way they're playing doesn't exactly strike fear in others. The other half of the bracket could have ARG, URU and COL.

But of course there will be some twists even if most of the so-called 'group-deciding' matches of the group stage have already been played. I could still see Colombia coming in second, for e.g.

I think that Yarbrough is firmly in the USMNT camp.

If the US lose this one, I would then imagine Paraguay's chances will come down to winning the last group game against us. If the US then loses that match, and we go 0-3 on our soil against these three teams, I would have to hope that JK's job is then in jeopardy. That would be the only silver lining to all of this.

I expect that we (the US) will somehow craft together a 1-0 win, possibly with a little help from a ref.

This smells like 1-1. That result helps Paraguay more than anything else.

Klinsmann has sucked the life out of our team. So I have adopted the same pessimistic stance as Teso.

If we don't win, Klinsmann deserves to be fired. Simple as that really.

I would say not having one passable midfielder in the 23 man squad is a real problem, too.

Sad thing is, I think we could lose all 3, and he'll still keep his job.

Looking interesting so far. The ticos all over the US the first 5. The US reacting now.

    Tough penalty on the ticos
