My apologies mate if I overreacted I tend to overreact sometimes I should have looked at the date that I quoted Cheers mate
Guys if Netherlands had qualified to Euro 2016 how would be your team? I'd have gone to France with: 1. Zoet 2. Karsdorp 3. te Wierik 4. van Dijk 5. Büttner 6. Blind 7. Sinkgraven 8. van Ginkel 9. Huntelaar 10. Sneijder 11. Robben 12. Janmaat 13. Bruma 14. Letschert 15. Willems 16. de Roon 17. Promes 18. Pröpper 19. Janssen 20. Wijnaldum 21. van Persie 22. Cillessen 23. Vermeer Robben is actually injured but I think he could recover during the Euro. Also de Vrij is injured and I left out Strootman because I didn't see much of him after the serious injury. I excluded also Depay because he didn't have a good season at Utd. The starting line-up would be this: -----------------------Huntelaar---------------------- Sinkgraven----------Sneijder--------------Robben ---------------Blind-----------van Ginkel------------ Büttner-----van Dijk-----te Wierik-----Karsdorp -------------------------Zoet---------------------------- I would try Sinkgraven as lest winger since it seems we don't have many good wingers at the moment and he can provide good crosses, that's why I prefered him to Promes who is faster anyway. As main striker I choose Huntelaar beacuse for the Euro I don't think that him and van Persie were finished but I think it wouldn't change too much if Janssen started. So on the bench the B asset would be this: --------------van Persie---------Janssen-------------- Wijnaldum------------------------------------Promes ---------------de Roon-----------Pröpper-------------- Willems------Letschert------Bruma------Janmaat ------------------------Cillessen------------------------- Of couse many people i think won't like this team; what do you think? How would be your team?
How about this: I am not happy with my left back. I think we should test Zegelaar since our Portuguese posters point in his direction as a possible solution.
I think I know what you're saying, Blind isnt exactly a flashy LB. But when it comes to important matches I trust Blind much more than I do Willems. Against perhaps easier opponents we could use Willems where his lack of defense doesnt matter so much
Blind had a great game at LB against Spain at WC2014. Failed to reproduce the magic though. Yes he's slow, not the strongest. But he's smart and has the ability to break up defenses. He's showed that at Manchester United as well. Some nice assists in a struggling team. So there's no doubt that I would not consider selecting him if it was up to me. He can cover too many positions not to. Would I let him be one of my starting 11? Probably not.
Blind has good field awareness and can deliver a very good cross. He took almost all of ManU's corner kicks, at least in the matches that I saw. He is also a good defender despite the lack of speed (I venture to say he would be the best defender of all the LB candidates). He is not ideal but he is adequate.
Years ago, when we (Feyenoord) had Metgod and later Koeman in the defense, people complained how slow they were. But with those two in the back line, we conceded the least goals of the Eredivisie and also compared with Feyenoord without them. So it is good to have speed, but more important it is to have the brains and experience to smell where you have to be to prevent trouble in the first place.
Seriously sounds like a big joke to me. A lot of people have said that I'm Anti Blind (Daley) but the fact is no matter how intelligent you are if you have a Weakness at some point in time it will be exposed and that is always in big games where it matters most. Its then you realize oh he should not have played there in the first place. How many games he has played as LB and NT has conceded from his side.I will exclude the WC here simply because of how Van Gaal structured the team. He is one player I jus can't see in any position where he will be the weakest link. DM,LB,CB. I was reading an article on him. He quoted saying that the number of goals Man United Conceded is jus a indication of how formidable the defense was this season. Hello It was De Gea who saved their asses not the defense. He is good at best when playing with teams like Andorra,Hungry,Estonia etc. With big guns he is jus a ticking time bomb. On this note its has been announced NT will play Belgium in November. I will be looking forward to this game to further consolidate my opinions surrounding him.
I don't think that's true at all for this past season, but maybe the one before... De Gea had a few howlers this year actually. By the way, Man Utd allowed 4 goals in 9 matches without de Gea and went W7 L2 D1. Once LvG signed him to keep on, they were 47 goals in 50 matches with de Gea and went W25 L13 D12 - with Blind/Smalling pretty much the CB combo the whole time. So I don't see any problem with Blind drawing confidence from that. Further, I don't know that his weaknesses are necessarily exposed in the biggest games, and even if so, isn't it his managers fault for not bringing a balanced team which covers for its weaknesses? What did he do wrong in his last big game, the FA cup final? Also, are you saying you hope they play Blind v Belgium in November and you hope he does poorly - why is that? And if so, why not v France in October?
Yo Don't think the stats usually give the true picture of what happens in the game. Why do you think Van Gaal brought Romero. This is where he wanted to sell De Gea and make Romero.how many games did Romero play this seasonand I wonder why van Gaal stuck with De Gea????? From the games that I have watched for ManUnited, it de Gea would have been there Man United would have been further down the table and Van Gaal would have been fired long time ago. As for Blind most probably he will be rotated around at LB ,DM and LCB and this is where I feel other players will be cock blocked by father and son.
@wilson00 I'm not interested in comparing keepers, the stats were merely to show why I think it's warranted for Blind to draw confidence from his season, regardless of the keeper. But I am still interested in your answers to my questions!
Pals kind of bold question. If you are saying what did he do wrong in the FA final,I can also ask what did he do right vs Tottenham. Jus an example. Blind as a major weakness not a minor,it jus that they always wanna curtain that aspect of his gane with his distribution abilities (FDB).you think it will work in long run. I can guarantee you if you give him a competition in any position he will simply fall out and this is where Daddy has made sure that there is no competition for sonny. With Van Dijk now looking confident at LCB with very game , daddys attention will now shift to LB or DM.too position which still needs improvement. There is where he will try to slot him,WHY because he can set up play from the back. I mean what about defending. Should this be the primary objective of a defender. Tete for example. Vs France,Vs Mexico vs USA.the high tempo games was evidently where his weakness was exposed and this I'd what I expect to happen vs Belgium if he starts anywhere. At man United he is a mouse in the hole.
Bold question? I was just trying to understand your logic when you said he was exposed and always in big games when it matters the most, but I think I was just stuck on the word 'always' in there. So not always, and mostly the examples are friendlies? Lots of people don't like Blind, and I can understand and agree with most reasons. Blind would not be my pick for any of those positions either! But I can see the argument why he is useful, and why it has certainly been justifiable for any manager to select a CB from a team tied for the least GA in England (and was tied with a couple other former Ajax defenders at Spurs which is kind of funny). So, not sure I buy into the theory that Danny Blind is making sure there is no competition either. Actually in my experience, having played on just a youth metro team where the dad was coach and his child was a winger, the dad treats his son worse than everyone else. Not that I'd pretend to know the Blinds' dynamic.. But it's cool, don't have to answer my questions. I think I get the picture.
