Maybe you were saying that before the tournament started. Doubt you were saying that after the first game (at least not for the previous 2 Copas). But yeah... they could win their first 3 matches convincingly, they'll still likely get Uruguay in the quarterfinals which could be a problem. So their first 3 matches are not very important for this tournament.
Unless Venezuela surprises and finds a way to get a couple draws the last few matches or win outright. But odds are you are right.
Yes, Chile were quite unlucky. They had at least 4 good chances in the box there were wasted, either by miscommunication or just plain fumbling the ball.
