Here we go ... I'm disappointed that Peru left so many experienced players off like Advincula, Zambrano, Farfan, Ballon etc ... I'm rooting for Haiti because their roster shows that they're taking this seriously ...
I still predict Brazil & Ecuador qualifying. Haiti may prove me wrong but I still stand by my prediction. Peru is easily the fodder team.
Haiti is average (at best) Peru played around them likes cones in the first 15 minutes then Peru switched completely off and let them back in Gareca wont hear the end of it if he losses or draws to this team and the press cant blame Claudio Pizarro for this one
haiti had one clear chance the whole game. Peru had 5 or 6 clear ones. Anytime Peru started to put the ball on the ground they created chances. They decided to stay back after the goal and it almost cost them at the end
I think is a combination on Haiti being fairly well organized in the back and also when Peru lacking Ideas when getting close to Haiti area.
Then again, I'm not entire sure Belfort was onside. At any rate, Haiti was a hell of a lot better than I expected after our most recent results. And Nazon finally got out of the coach's doghouse! Hopefully we steal a point before we go home...and play like this in our WCQ in September.
I counted 2 one on one in the first half and another 2 one on one in the second half, aside from the goal and the post . The game could've finished 3-0 for peru if half those chances were scored. I dont see brazil or ecuador having any problems against haiti if they have those chances. I actually found haiti defense to be weak , their midfielder was a lot better , upfront they didn't do much , only a chance from a fee kick Peru created chances, they just could not finished. After the goal Peru decided to stay back and wait instead of scoring another goal Haiti in the other hand only created one chance at the end of the game , and one dangerous free kick.
Peru had 3 shots on target which is about ok I guess.. but what I saw a lot was Peru getting close to Haiti area and either making a bad pass, taking a wrong decision or a Haiti player dispossesing a Peruvian player. Now im not trying to say that Haiti is now a defensive wall, but for a team their caliber, they looked very good in the back, specially considering that Peru is known for having good creative players up front, Peru problems usually is making mistakes in the back that cost them games.
