Caught bits and pieces of the game. I knew it was gonna be booooorrrrrring! Good thing is the US should def be able to beat both these teams that played today.
Horrible game to watch, but perfect result for the US. A couple people mentioned that they both came out not to lose and that both teams would be happy for the result. Someone will have to explain that tortured logic to me, because it seems like total nonsense. This would have been the important game to win to put either of these teams through.
Logical or not, this is what teams do sometimes in tournaments. They don't feel confident enough to risk opening up and ending up with 0 points. At least with one point you're alive and tied for second place and in control of your own destiny going into next game.
And also for example in Paraguay's case, the US will be more urged to attack than Paraguay. This benefits Paraguay style, they are big on countering attacking
TBH, both teams were too cautious and in no way was this a proper measure of what they're capable of. I'll expect both teams to up their game in the following two games!
Hmm, standings could well be COL 6, USA 3, PAR 1, CRC 1 or COL 4, USA 3, PAR 2, CRC 1 heading into the last matchday. Both scenarios would be must-win situations for Paraguay.
Im talking about this upcoming game, Paraguay obviously wanted the win, but a tie in that game is not a bad result either for them considering that the US is desperately needing points. Paraguay is more comfortable playing that kind of game, waiting and counter attacking, taking advantage on whatever space the US leaves in the back which is the kind of game that characterizes them.
Good result for the USA. Now we need to win our next two matches! Come on US! Costa Rica, Paraguay draw in Orlando's first Copa América match http://www.orlandosentinel.com/spor...-costa-rica-paraguay-0605-20160604-story.html
