Fair to say Navas is the undisputed GOAT this year Top 5 players this season imo 1.Navas 2.Cheech 3.Wes Morgan 4.JDS 5.Guardado
Bryan Ruiz could challenge Layun and JDS. Outstanding season for a Sporting side that was a tight second best to Benfica, but well above Porto. Islam Slimani and Ruiz drove that team all season long.
Wes Morgan, a guy who has played almost his entire career in the 2nd and 3rd division of England, is now all of the sudden at 32 years old a top 5 player because he happens to be on the miracle Leicester City squad?
He isn't just on the team he is their captain and played a big role throughout their title run how does that not move him to the top in what is a fairly weak region when it comes to producing elite players?
Because he's such a skilled soccer player. I'm clearly joking, but the guy running the USMNT probably would tell you he is a skilled soccer player.
Because he is what he is. Do you think 2 years ago at 30 Wes Morgan was a much different player while playing in the championship when hardly anyone in concacaf even knew who he was? He is a fine player but if I'm filling in my concacaf IX team sheet tomorrow I ain't taking him 3rd.
If the topic was about CVs, I'd agree with you. He wouldn't get in the team. But we are taking about who "IS" as in present tense, as in form. If you've seen any of Leicester's matches, you'd notice how imposing Morgan has been all season long. I mean, the guy got on the PFA Team of the Year, meaning he was one of the two best CBs in the Premier League! It's not even objectively debatable that he is among the best CONCACAF performers of the season.
The flaw is that people look and see "Oh, he is playing for the EPL champion therefore he is really good"but in reality he probably had the same ability last year or the year before and only now is being recognized because he is on a highly achieving team Like I said, the dude is 32... he probably didn't make a jump in ability from 30 - 32.... concacaf player playing on the most prestigious team should not necessarily = best player Just my take on it though.
If players got on the PFA Team of the Year by just playing for the Champions, then it'd be just the Leicester XI. Some players are just late bloomers or could have a one-off great season. His lack of past accomplishments shouldn't diminish the value of his current form. Aduriz is 35 and just hit his best ever form, earning him a call up for the Euros with Spain. It happens. Tbh, I reserve most of my Saturdays to religiously watching PL games, so I'm not just talking out of the Leicester hype. I've actually seen the guy play several times to out the season, and I can't think of one C-CAF defender currently on that level of league+performance. Watched him fit Agüero, Costa, Giroud, Martial, Kane and Lukaku in his pocket. My take is, he is super easily C-CAF Top 3 of the season.
Great honor. Dude represents the region well. He's really impressing after decades of fine Concacaf goalkeepers from the US and he's arguably a top 3 GK right now.

haven't you heard? AJ is old news, Bobby Wood is already the best striker in the history of the Bundesliga even if he has only played in the second division thus far.
Pulisic is just the new Messi, I heard he already won 3 ballon d'Or for his whole 100 minutes in the Bundesliga.
