I remember hearing about Adu in high school, he was playing in the MLS at 14 or something, the same age as I was at the time and it was just incredible. The hype around him was crazy, "the next Pele."

Yeah, you're right. I've heard of that Messi guy, he hasn't had too bad of a career :whistling:

Telegraaf reports that De Boer quits. It's done. I like De Boer as a personality and manager and the club owes him big time for the rest he brought during the revolution. Shame he never developed as a coach or tactician.

Bosz is likely to be his replacement which could be a good thing, still the club is infested with incompetence in the organization on so many levels, it's hard to keep the faith. Although I'll be happy to see some real attacking football again.

I'm thankful for De Boer stepping down. Shows the respect he has for the club and the supporters. He knows he's taken the group as far as he can.

It's time for a new voice and I'm looking forward to see what Bosz can do.

Pretty much agreed. I don't know much about Bosz, but I'm excited about a fresh start.

Jordi Cruyff hired Bosz to manage Maccabi Tel Aviv which he has been doing for the past several months after leaving Vitesse. He was contacted yesterday and said nobody from Ajax has talked to him but of course that was before FdB's announcement today. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I know that Morten Olsen who had a previous stint (and a falling out with the de Boer brothers who wanted to leave the club) and finished up managing the Danish national team is available. However, I'm not sure that they want to go with an older manager at this point in time.

I'm still pessimistic at this point since Overmars is likely to stay which doesn't address that problem.

Plenty of managers available that would certainly be intrested in the Ajax job. Hopefully someone with tatical awareness and a desire to do well.

What are your thoughts on who you would like to see? How do you feel about a foreign manager?

I would like to see Julen Lopetegui as he is young and is a tatical coach and has some great ideas. Hates backpassing and likes high pressing, counterattacking football, dont know if he would take the job thought or if he is even on the Ajax shortlist.

What are thoughts on Van Gaal going to Ajax or a former player like Seedorf

Van Gaal is my dreamed coach. Claude Puel, a French coach , would also be a wise choice. His way of understanding football is what is lacking in Ajax. Otherwise, Erik Ten Hag and Albert Stuivenberg are good options. And to stay in the family of Ajax we could designate Clarence Seedorf .

van Gaal would be a disaster, though not as bad as FdB. He is too controlling and won't let players express creativity. He had a great run at Ajax in the 1990s but based on how he set up the Dutch NT in Brazil and his work at ManU, I want someone else. If the club wants to hire an old timer they would do far better with Morten Olsen. My hope is that Wim Jonk is brought back but I'm not sure whether the current Board would do this.

What do you think of Van Marwijk Orange14 ?

I think Ajax needs a rationnal coach and he is one. Probably the most rationnal dutch one. Never expect to see Schone playing as RW with him.

He has been doing very good since he took the saudi national team : 7 games, 5 won, 2 draw. They were losing a lot before his arrival.

No way. Sure he took the NT to the finals but by playing an ultra conservative 4-2-3-1. He didn't even last a full season at Hamburg and of course he managed Feyenoord at one time. As noted in my sig line, I want either Wim Jonk or Marcelo Bielsa!

Van Marwijk would be a disastrous choice. No mas . In addition he is a Feyenoorder . He would destroy the Dna of Ajax.

I also agree that Van Marwijk will not be a good fit. Jonk would be a very interesting choice. I don't see Bielsa will be selected as it will be a Dutch coach. I also do not think have LVG back as a good idea. I also read somewhere that Bergkamp is not interested in becoming head coach at the moment.

Bergkamp doesn't fly so that rules him out if Ajax were to qualify for CL or EL.

Why not Jaap Stam. He is present at the club for a while.

We already had a defender as manager and you saw how that turned out!

Probably correct but it's interesting to think about the hell for leather football the team would be playing with Bielsa as manager. I still remember how attack minded the Chile team was at the 2010 WC. They struck fear in all their opponents.

One of FdB's possible destinations has opened up as Everton just sacked Roberto Martinez. Good luck in the EPL Frank if you get the job.

Jaap Stam said that Van Rhijn would become a world class CB few years ago...

This comment does not question his ability to lead a team . There are many young players who have not confirmed the hopes placed in them.

One of the positives of FdB are the number of young players that saw their first action at the senior level. Here is the list. Now some of them are no longer with Ajax but I believe all are still playing professionally.

    • Riechedly Bazoer
    • Donny van de Beek
    • Nicolai Boilesen
    • Geoffrey Castillion
    • Vaclav Cerny
    • Stefano Denswil
    • Mitchell Dijks
    • Lorenzo Ebecilio
    • Viktor Fischer
    • Anwar El Ghazi
    • Mickey van der Hart
    • Ricardo Kishna
    • Davy Klaassen
    • Dico Koppers
    • Ruben Ligeon
    • Jody Lukoki
    • Queensy Menig
    • Robert Muric
    • Ricardo van Rhijn
    • Jaïro Riedewald
    • Lesly de Sa
    • Fabian Sporkslede
    • Kenny Tete
    • Joel Veltman

I did not say anywhere that he would be a good coach. I'm just saying that its former great player profile and long presence at the club since the end of his career can afford to include him in the cast . Point final.

A foreign coach could bring a fresh perspective, Julen Lopetegui or André Villas-Boas would be interesting choices as Portugese football has been very innovative with things like tactical periodization. Personally I would like Hein Vanhaezebrouck as well. He has a profound insight in the game. Luciano Spalletti has a similar football brain but he is currently out of reach. Zdeněk Zeman might be my favorite because he loves total football, often plays crazy attacking formations and is quite a character.

Unfortunately I doubt the club scouts outside the Netherlands for managers and then probably only in the personal networks of the current management. The job is quite risky for a foreigner as the media, particularly the Telegraaf paper, the NOS public broadcaster and VI magazine all want to guard their contacts inside the club and will turn on a manager if they feel their interests are threatened.
