Since the last thread was getting long, might as well start a new one. Here's where we can collect stories about YNT-eligible players born 1997 or later getting callups for foreign national teams going forward. Previous thread: http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/yanks-on-foreign-ynts.896049/ Since the noncitizen thread (mainly for U.S.-based noncitizen players of interest) doesn't really seem to get a ton of use, perhaps we can let that one stand: http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/kids-who-arent-citizens-arent-close-and-immigration.1831047/
Noah Powder (who I think is a US citizen?) was called up to T&T U-20. He's been playing for NYRB II on an amateur basis.
Jonathan Godette of DC United is part of the T&T U17 squad. http://www.socawarriors.net/mens-u1...repare-for-cfu-qualifiers.html?fb_ref=Default He's a US citizen: http://dcut.ussoccerda.com/sam/teams/index.php?team=1400319&player=28722188
So I'm reading Tim Tillman was snubbed from the most recent German roster for his age group. TIME TO POUNCE USSF!
AIK U21 striker Nebiyou Perry, who recently played with the US U18s in Argentina in March, will play for Sweden in this summer's U17 Euros— Nats Abroad (@Nats_Abroad) May 1, 2016 This is a provisionally cap-tying event.
Too bad. He had been playing in preseason games with his club's first team, a team which is one of the better teams in the top Swedish league. I've not seen him play, but I assume he's pretty decent if he's that close to first team playing time as a '99. It just so happens that Sweden had a cap-tying tournament for his age group, and we didn't, nothing we can really do about that. He's probably just going with whatever international opportunities he can get from either country.

He can obviously do what he wants, but he seems to not understand cap-tying rules. You aren't really keeping your NT choice open if you accept a preliminary cap-tying call up.
Of course not. But he can still switch back. One can wait an awful long time to get a national team call-up.

Is this a cap-tying youth tournament? I'd rather us not lose Powder provisionally as he seems to have some potential.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Under 20 Men’s Team completed a 6-2 victory over Defence Force’s Super League team 6-2 in their final warm-up fixture on Friday evening at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, ahead of their opening Caribbean Football Union fixture with Guadeloupe on Wednesday at 7:30pm. T&T, coached by Brian Williams, got goals from 15-year-old midfielder Isaiah Hudson in the 1st and 25th minutes, a double from forward Nicholas Dillon in the 35th and 70th minutes and one each from Josh Toussaint in the 81st minute and New York Red Bulls defender Noah Powder in the 87th minute. http://www.socawarriors.net/mens-u2...-of-cfu-qualifying-opener.html?fb_ref=Default
Noah Powder profile from T&T federation: http://www.socawarriors.net/mens-u20/16941-red-bulls-powder-ready-to-lock-horns-for-t-t.html Eligible to play for T&T through his father who was born in Tobago, Powder is ambitious and has already set his sights on catching the eye of Senior Team head coach Stephen Hart. “Within a year I would love to break into the full men’s squad under coach Hart. That’s my goal. I have been getting a lot of criticism from some people (over there) as to why I don’t play for the US because I have obviously been showing what I can do. I told them that the US called me maybe a year ago and I said I wanted to play for Trinidad. I turned down the US because I figured I could play more for Trinidad and Tobago and be able to express myself more. I have no regrets about my decision and I’m very thankful to play for Trinidad and Tobago,” Powder added. The 17-year-old who lives in New Jersey, began his career with the New York Red Bulls Academy and trained with the Red Bulls first team in 201.5. He made his debut for the Reds Bull II against Toronto FC II in the United Soccer League on March 26th, playing the full match which ended 2-2.

US college player called up in the Guatemala U20s for the NTC tournament: Universidad de Heidelberg (EE.UU.): Jeffrey Alexander Urizar Hernández http://www.concacaf.com/es/article/guatemala-u20s-return-to-training I can't confirm dual citizenship, but he lists Los Angeles as his hometown on his college profile: http://athletics.heidelberg.edu/sports/msoc/2015-16/bios/urizar_jeffrey_ipoe
Wow, a national team callup for a D3 college player. That's pretty unusual. But he's an GK, so of course! Everyone wants American goalies these days.
