Clasie was subbed after 58 minutes, stamina problems again ?

Pretty routine tactical change for Koeman lately, changing 1 of his 2 DMs (and usually Clasie) in the second half. Did not seem tired though. Some positives, was generally tidy and untroubled. 100% on his passing and tackles, plus created 2 chances. Not much could be done with the goal against, strange play.
He and Wanyama compliment eachother well.
Provided that Strootman is able to pick up where he left off, would be really interested to see Strootman-Clasie play together in a 433 or 4231 similar to which Southampton play.

Good away win for van Dijk too keeping Kane off, not the most mobile CB but can still be really good with a quick organized partner and gritty midfield.

Pretty much like a loose canon without ball. Looked decent when with ball. Sumed up his game before being replaced by romeu. I think Koeman should put him higher up the pitch. CM Maybe . I can't see Clasie suceeding at DM at Southampton. Very soon Koeman will be forced to see that.

Hehe right, maybe Koeman just has not seen enough of Clasie yet to tell what position he is best in.

I like Clasie and so does Koeman but as I have said ,without the ball he offers very little compared to when he possess the ball. When Romeu came on he instantly changed the dynamics of the game especially in defense where he was more aggressive than Clasie. I mean breaking the play down and complementing the attack.this is one area where Clasie has not been able to dominate due to his built.

I disagee. Well, Clasie is def less aggressive than Romeu as you say (who I find reckless) but I think Clasie has better positioning. As soon as Romeu came on there were 2 direct passing plays straight through the middle, the first cleaned up by van Dijk and the second resulting in a wild shot by Kane. And he had a yellow within about 10 mins?
Anyway, neither at fault for the only goal by the opposition so where do we go with this?
If you prefer a hard man as a DM then fair enough, but for me depending on other players around, Clasie's body size is not necessarily a problem. And regardless, I'm happy when he does well.
More of a problem in regards to the NT is that he doesn't play 90, even if the reason is tactical.

Agree, but Tottenham first goal.both wanayama and Clasie were no where to be found before they poked that ball behind the defense. Froster reacted late thinking Kane was offside but son wasn't .

But again when it comes to breaking down the play, Clasie still lacks that aggressivness at EPL level . there is where strootman was so good. Clasie definety looks good with the ball but without the ball he jus runs and runs like a cat chasing a mouse.

Clasie picked the wrong league to move to. He's much better suited to Spanish football than the EPL. He has the fastest handling speed of any Dutch MF around these days. The only thing holding him back is the lack of stamina. I don't worry about his build as Xavi was one of the great midfielders of our generation and not very tall.

Nowhere to be found? The ball went right over Clasie who followed Eriksen deep, as he is likely supposed to.
Maybe he was being too aggressive ;)

Marvin Zeegelaar played 40 minutes for Sporting Lisbon one his team a free kick that ended up in a goal

Sporting Lisbon is a team that rotates alot

I've been telling this guy for a long time not surprised by the success he's having

I agree with the sentiment that the English game doesn't suit Clasie nearly as well as it could. I too think that he would absolutely flourish in La Liga. Then again, this was his first season so maybe adjustments will be made over the summer and he will expand his game.

If he is, he should play injured more often. He scored 2 and played 88 mins in his teams 3-0 win yesterday! ;)
