If we're being honest, Lyon and Monaco are a good representation of the league. That's the problem. I'd like to see both do well in Europe, so hopefully the draws won't be too bad and hopefully Monaco won't be paired off with one of the giants in the playoffs.
They showed Rybolevev sitting next to the Prince in the crowd. I hope he got the message that he needs to recruit hard next year and not sell off the whole team.
Also Aulas has an obsession of hiring a former player as the new general manager rather than hire the best man available regardless of where he is from and thats another thing that will doom them.

I would generally agree with you but you have to admit Genesio has been the best thing to happen to them, coaching-wise, in a long time.
i didn't hear it in the stadium because i was in the VS but there were some BG with us in the bus and we sung it all the way back to eurexpo... along with the L1950's creation of the evening: le prince albert est une salope! le prince albert est une salope!
i've been around and around with SB on this for years. genesio has done great things, and caçapa too. football is a lot more chemistry than public relations, screw big foreign names and the attachées de presse they ride in on. how did leicester win the EPL and FCP lift ol' big ears? keep the team together and develop chemistry. keep alex and sam, get a better LB than morel (he can stay as a 3rd CB) and we have all we need to go as deep into C1 as PSG ever has spending half a billion euros on foreign names.
I don't see how you're in any position to make those kinds of digs after the embarrassing display this past season. You literally lost at home against Gent.
the problem wasn't the players themselves but the fact they played like crap at the beginning of the season. playing the way we have in 2016 we win that group easily and playing like we did against you, or last night, and we get through the 16 too. after that it gets tough, as we all know.
That's not how it works. Or do you think that the group stages next season will be moved in accordance to when Lyon starts playing well? No offense, but I don't understand where the arrogance comes from. It certainly isn't based on your recent form in the CL!
Well to SportBoy's point I'm pretty sure Ranieri injected some confidence into the group as well. I dont think its a coincidence that Lyon started playing MUCH better as soon as Genesio mixed things up with formation and put Ghezzal on the right wing etc. Of course your points about chemistry are equally important IMO.
Actually Lyon needed to learn how to play without Fekir when he got injured and Genesio figured that out. Guignol has a point about not being shy about Lyon's chances next season in the CL, as we typically make it to the quarters.
Sure, he has a point, but it's not a good one. And you should look up the definition of "typically". Either that or you should look up your history in the CL. You have made it to the quarters, yes, but that's very different from "typically" making it to the quarters. I could see how 2016 looks similar enough to 2006, so maybe that's where the confusion is coming from? The funny thing is that I hope you do go as far as possible. But I don't think the arrogance is warranted. I don't even think PSG is guaranteed of making it to the quarters and we TYPICALLY make it there considering the past few consecutive seasons.
i'm not being arrogant at all. i said we played like crap in the CL. we played like crap in all the competitions for 2-3 months and i have a better idea about why than you do since i saw every minute of every game. it had nothing to do with beginning or end of the season. teams win games, not individuals and certainly not coaches on their own. the examples i gave are the best proof of that i could possibly offer. as for the last part i'll just repeat what i've said ever since OL lined up up quarterfinal appearances like paper dolls: once you get down to 8 teams the CL is a lottery. it can all go one way or the other on a refereeing call, an injury, a good or a bad bounce. if you buy a ticket every year, you'll eventually win. the fact PSG haven't won so far is no tragedy, as long as they keep buying their ticket every year they'll win eventually.
It is arrogant to assume you will just walk into the CL, especially considering your results in the CL the past few years. But let's agree to disagree because clearly you and @lefutur are looking at a different set of results in the past decade. Because this is the one I see: 2014/15 UEFA Europa League Match de barrage 2013/14 UEFA Champions League Match de barrage 2013/14 UEFA Europa League Quarts de finale 2012/13 UEFA Europa League Seizièmes de finale 2011/12 UEFA Champions League Huitièmes de finale 2010/11 UEFA Champions League Huitièmes de finale 2009/10 UEFA Champions League Demi-finales 2008/09 UEFA Champions League Huitièmes de finale 2007/08 UEFA Champions League Huitièmes de finale 2006/07 UEFA Champions League Huitièmes de finale One semifinal appearance in the past decade (which was like 5/6 years ago) so obviously you made it to the quarter finals and beyond that season, but then you have zero additional appearances in the QFs. So no, "typically" you get knocked out before the QFs in recent history.
Monaco 3rd, Nice 4th. I like it because Nice is not equipped for Champions League since they will probably lose Puel, Ben Arfa, and Germain.

The coefficient has taken a beating over the last few years from teams other than PSG. Russia is within striking distance and dropping down to only two teams for Champions League football would be disastrous for the league. Top clubs are already having a hard enough time keeping their bright stars from bottom feeders in England as it is. Losing out on one of the plus sides to staying with a side like Lyon or Lille would be disappointing.
