Not to mention his loss of morale for a year or so into his Chelsea career.

Atleti is starting to get into form again. If you had to make a UEFA best 11 you would have to include Godin and Griezmann. And maybe Simeone as the manager.

This topic had no posts in over four months. If you could make a ratio of how good a club is to how many fans it has, would Atletico Madrid be the top club in the world? How many times more fans than Atletico Madrid do Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich have?

Why has Simeone not been charged / banned for whacking that poor touch-line guy on the arm the other night !?

If you are still wondering why, it was one of his officials at Atletico. It wasn't anyone affiliated with UEFA or an official.

That doesn't mean that he's allowed to simply whack someone though , especially with no warning or justification .

It's common assault at best .

Try whacking one of your work colleagues tomorrow and let us know how that goes !!

Pepe should have been sent off for persistent bad acting

    He's a complete joke

Today the better team lost. Real Madrid's goal was offside, while Atletico's goal was legit plus a missed penalty in regular time. Atletico also had more possession, which is something almost no one expected. They genuinely outplayed Real Madrid today.

Unlucky. Better luck in the future.

What an end of match between Atletico and Alaves! Atletico played better in a whole but the converted penalty in the last minute came in handy. Anyway Alaves did the unlikely scoring in additional time.

With to ties already gets hard to Atletico repeat last season's deed and keep up with Barcelona and Real Madrid for the title. No doubt Simeone's team has a lot of potential just hope they start to put this on practical soon to reach the victories.

Finally a victory on Atletico’s level against Vigo. A first half to forget though. And Griezmann was brilliant.

Looks like Simeone will be walking away in 2 seasons, unless he has a change of heart. I hope it doesn't send the club into a freefall, it's great to see Atletico's rise and stability, in remaining around the top in international competitions as well as local. My only concern is that the leaders in the team, (Gabi, F.Torres, Juanfran and Godin) will struggle to get Atleti through the akward transistional period, as their impact on the pitch will be less and less due to age etc.
If the younger players keep their heads and don't panic, then Atletico should remain an elite side in both Spain and Europe, there's a hell of alot in talent and potential, the midfield espcially being well stacked. I'm sure they'll have the pick of many top managers in any case.

I will be attending an Atleti match around december time at the calderon. Cannot wait :D

Considering the phases, Atletico was favourite against Valencia and made it worth. Despite Valencia isn't in a good moment Diego Alves was great as penalty stopper and avoided a largest defeat.

French fan here. I have a lot of respect for your team. I like how you guys have made life difficult for Spain's Big Two these last few years. I have to ask -- why does Griezmann miss so many penalties?

MADRID (AP) — Atletico Madrid will get closer to the past when it moves into its new stadium this weekend.

The state-of-the-art venue inaugurated on Saturday will thrust the traditional Spanish club into modernity while not letting go of its rich history.

The 68,000-capacity Wanda Metropolitano, named after the Estadio Metropolitano where Atletico played more than half a century ago, will give fans plenty of comfort and luxury.

Atletico Madrid won 5-2 at Sevilla. Sevilla scored 2 late goals to end Atletico Madrid's streak of 23 La Liga games without allowing more than 1 goal. It was the first time since October 15, 2016 that a La Liga game with Atletico Madrid had at least 7 goals. In that game, they won 7-1 hosting Granada.

Farewell El Nino. Glad the club got the Europa League to send him off with. And the brace on his final match.
