I saw that Paulo Dybala already had 3 caps for Argentina but I think they were just friendlies. I never understood the rule if there is one but is he cap tied to them or can he still choose until he turns 23 next November?
2 of them were qualifiers. Prior to him getting cap tied, Conte asked him to play for Italy and he said he was waiting for Argentina.
Ok I see. Therefore, whether he wanted to play for Italy or not, at this point because he played in a qualifier he no longer has the right to choose regardless of of his age is that correct?
Correct. Once you play in a qualifier, and FIFA Senior tournament that pretty much locks you in. But if you have played in a youth tournament, and have ancestry you can play for another country, just like Paletta did, he won a U20 title with Messi in 05 then went onto represent Italy at senior level. http://www.football-italia.net/65453/dybala-‘conte-wanted-me-italy’ “There was the chance to play for Italy,” Dybala revealed in an interview with Canal Plus. “Conte sounded me out, but I’ve said many times that I feel Argentinian.”
I'm happy Dybala did that. I prefer players who play for Italy because they want to and are not the backup option.
How did you know that? from when i check for the last time the news, he didnt decide yet if he plays for the Peruvian NT. Even he's reject plays the qualifiers the next march.
I read in the Gazzetta a while ago that he was gonna play for Peru but i see now that he is waiting until the summer to decide if he should accept the call for Peru
Dybala would have singlehandedly brought us up a level for years to come. Wish he had felt more Italian and accepted a call-up. Imagine a front-line of Insigne, Dybala and Berardi for the next 5+ years.
To be honest, I think Poland would've been a better chance than Italy. He said when he moved to Italy, he wanted to get a polish passport but it was too difficult so he got an Italian one. He had a great grandmother who came over from Italy but said he knew nothing about.
From football Italia; Tottenham are in a bidding war with Napoli and Juventus for Pescara hitman Gianluca Lapadula. This evening Lapadula scored his 21st Serie B goal of the season in 33 appearances, also providing nine assists. The 26-year-old spent his entire career at small clubs, but is considering whether to play his international football for Italy or Peru. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Premier League outfit Tottenham have made an offer worth €5m to Pescara. Napoli and Juventus have already set their sights on the forward, but Spurs are diving straight in with a big proposal. Both Serie A sides would prefer to pay around half that sum for Lapadula. If he decides to stay in Italy he will probably see more playing time in Napoli than at Juve with Higuain likely leaving Napoli this summer.
http://www.football-italia.net/83891/sabatini-italians-not-worthy-roma "Sporting director Walter Sabatini claims young Italians aren't good enough for Roma" “Look, just today I was asking my scouts to find some valid Italians, from Serie A down to the lowest tiers,” Sabatini said, as reported by the Gazzetta dello Sport. “We examined them, and it was a disaster. “There are no such players, at Roma they would end up being on the margins. People say that we only buy abroad because we get financial bonuses out of it. That's just talk."
The Under 17 National team beat Serbia 2-1 today in the European Championships. Goals from Scamacca And Kean. Scamacca left Roma for PSV and looks like a top prospect while the Juventino Kean is a powerful goalscorer.
Just curious because I don't know anything about him, just saw a picture of the team on instagram. He must be born in Italy?
Under 17s lost to Holland today 1-0. Patrick Kluivert's son came on with 5 minutes to go and with his first touch set up the winning goal. The Dutch never looked like scoring until then. Moises Kean was sent off for a soft second yellow at the end and will miss the decisive match against Spain.
Under 17s lost 4-2 to Spain today and go out. They dominated the first half but a big mistake by the center Back Bastoni gifted the Spanish a goal at the start of the second. Italia fought back to 2-2 with a rigore for Oliveri and a headed goal by Pinamonti. While Italia push for a third goal Spain win the ball in midfield from a misplaced pass and score, minutes later they get the fourth. Spain took all their chances while Italia couldn't take theirs. Kean and Scamacca were missed on the pitch.
So I've been watching Kean, and I'm convinced this kid can lead the future of Italy's front line in some manner. Future Juve 9 as well. Great finisher, pace, strength, good in the air, great dribbler. He's like Balotelli's characteristics but better and faster. Think we would have beat Spain with him.
I'm sure he'll do great like all the black Italians before him: Fabio Liverani, Matteo Ferrari, Angelo Ogbonna, Mario Balotelli
