What's funny is USSF's actual press release completely left off the Arizona United/Tucson/San Nicolas game. (Not to mention misspelling "Calif.") That makes me feel a little better. I transcribed my list off the twitter feed and then tried to give full names for teams rather than the Twitter hashtags. I figured I made some mistakes but I counted to at least make sure I didn't miss any games.

We might have a change in the USOC results from last night. http://thecup.us/2016/05/12/la-wolv...er-us-open-cup-loss-to-ventura-county-fusion/
Wow, great wins for the Cosmopolitan Soccer League! The Freedoms are an established team that could pull off the upset, but the Lansdowne Bhoys win was unexpected. N.Y. Pancyprian Freedoms 2, Red Bulls U-23 1 Lansdowne Bhoys 2, Long Island Rough Riders 1 Detroit City finally got a Pk win, Detroit City @ Louisville should have pretty good attendance, with a strong traveling Detroit contingent.
so hold on...they actually decided to play a player against a team which he had already lost to and hope that nobody would notice him??? too funny....

Here's the 1st round update of my ever popular* league ELO rankings. *not at all true Some basic info, for those who want it: 1. These rankings use all USOC games since 1996 to determine the relative strengths of the leagues. The names used below just represent the current names of leagues at that level. In reality the leagues have changed around a lot, and what is now NASL used to be USL D-1, and the A League before it. Similarly for all the other levels. 2. There are bound to be mistakes back in the history, but the beauty of ELO rankings is that they are self-correcting over time, so the "actual strengths" probably aren't too far off from this right now, even with errors in older competitions. 3. The actual results used are as follows: a. Game finishes in regulation with a result: goals scored b. Game finishes after extra time with a result: goals scored c. Game goes to penalty kicks: goals scored before the penalty kicks. The game is "recorded" as a tie. 4. A home team has its rating raised by 100, and the change in ratings for each of the teams is calculated based on the result of the game, and the relative difference between the two ratings. This means that currently, we would expect an NASL team hosting an MLS team to be slightly in favor of the MLS team, but not significantly so. 5. The average change in score for any individual game is about 7. This means that one league goes up by 7, and the other down by 7. 6. There is no way to account for the fact that many MLS teams play 'B' or 'C' sides in the first few rounds they participate. I can only base it on the teams fielded. RoundMLSNASLUSLPDLNPSLUSASA/etc 2015180015801612134313021362 R1180015801612134913041353 PDL and NPSL have picked up a couple points this round, but still seem to largely be on par with USASA.
That is such a shame. I wrote a little blurb on my experience at the game last night (on another site). I was looking for others to share theirs if anyone attended a 1st Round match. I was at the VC Fusion FC v LA Wolves match, and I must say, I was impressed. The quality was good. The pace was high. The crowd was into it and got louder as the second half waned. And if not for a couple of defensive/goalkeeping miscues by the Wolves, the home team Fusion might have lost (outright, if these details turn into a DQ). I want to give a shout out to the players, teams, coaches AND fans who were on display last night in Ventura, CA. My gf and I really enjoyed the game. Does anyone else have an experience from last night to share? Let's keep this going...
I was in attendance for FC Wichita v. Des Moines Menace. Rather slow game, but both teams did have some quality chances. Pitch was terrible. Soggy, it seemed. Ball just stopped dead. Des Moines was clearly a better side, but one could tell both teams had zero comfort on the field with teammates -- FCW has played 3 games so far (2 exhibitions and 1 league game) and Des Moines is basically together for first time (supposedly some players flew straight to Wichita to join team for the game). Good crowd, even if it were "casual" fans. Definitely a lot of support for FC Wichita in central Kansas.
That's awesome you went. Thanks for sharing. The Fusion v Wolves game was fast paced. Decent skill. Was fun to see some talent and wonder where some of these guys might be in the coming years. I'm glad there's some decent support in Wichita. That's great! Anyone else with a "Game Report"? I'd love to hear one about the Detroit City FC v Michigan Bucks game.
I saw Clarkstown (NPSL) and Jersey Express (PDL) play...the pitch was woefully narrow, most of the players were sorely out of shape, quality of play was pretty inconsistent and there was not much to cheer about...while there was no admission fee, attendance was maybe 75 at the most.
2016 First round advancement: Home teams went 12-10 (12-11 counting the forfeit) on advancement. By affiliation: USSSA 1-0 PDL 9-9 NPSL 7-7 USASA 6-6 USCS 0-1 That may change slightly depending on the appeal by the LA Wolves.
