http://www.the-afc.com/competitions-division/afc-competitions-committee-decisions Following the expression of interest by China PR, Indonesia, Korea Republic and Thailand by the deadline of March 31, 2016 in hosting the AFC Asian Cup in 2023, the AFC will now send out the Bidding Agreement and the Host Candidate Questionnaire and seek Government guarantees and legal opinion on the bids.
The CFA had confirmed that 12 Chinese cities had expressed official bids to host AFC Asian Cup 2023, the AFC is requiring at least 6 cities and 8 stadiums for each cadidate country, so a pre-bids will be hold by CFA to decide which of the cities will join the Official bids the Chinese cities that want to host matches are Beijing, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Xi'an, Wuhan, Chengdu, Qingdao, Shenyang,Changsha,Ningbo, Luoyang
I welcomed when our FA announced their intention to host 2023 edition. At the heel of getting so close to winning it 2015, following the footstep of Australia's fantastic job at hosting and winning it, felt it was a nice timing to host one. We haven't hosted since 1960, so we are due to get it. But they are some opposition on our side as well. Since cost of hosting these international sporting events are high(we just hosted Asian games and will be hosting winter Olympic in 2 yrs) lot of my fellow Koreans would like to see the money going to grassroots youth development . I can't argue with that. But I can say, since our country has all the infrastructure already, the cost I assume will be minimal. And I say yes to hosting Asian cup instead of China hosting it again.
It is not a secret that China want to bid for the 2030 WC, China is now bidding for 2023 AFC Asian Cup, a lot of construction plan had already announced. The CSL clubs are requested to build their own stadium or joint construction with local government,as part of the technical demand of the League. the CSL want to host 2019 and 2020 FIFA club world cup, some clubs had started their project Tianjin Quanjian - a 45,000 seated soccer venue planed to be open in 2019 Hebei CFFC - had started the counstruction of CFFC stadium earlier this spring, Capacity 46,000 Special football Venue, will be open in 2019 Shanghai SIPG - the SIPG had started joint construction with Shanghai Government to build a 56,000 capacity football Venue in Pudong Area, planed to be open in 2019. Guangzhou Evergrande & Guangzhou R&F - on June 2016, Guangzhou Government announced the plan of a 80,000 Capacity football Venue in cooperation with Two CSL clubs, it will be built in Panyu District, planned to be open before 2020. Jiangsu Suning- their boss who is also chairman of Inter Milan, had announced that Suning Group will build a New stadium for Jiangsu Suning club Chengdu - the city doesn't have any CSL clubs currentlly,But it is a regular home city for Team China, planned to built a 60,000 Seated Football Venue, planed to start construction in 2018.
China last hosted the Asian Cup in 2004, whereas Korea has not hosted since 1960. Korea is a top Asian football country and I support Korea's bid.
China hosted in 2004. Indonesia and Thailand have withdrawn their bids. Korea is the logical choice but if they're given the tournament it would have to be hosted in the summer. Can't imagine teams playing in the bitter cold of January. That said, India has now thrown its hat into the ring and with the AFC bending over backwards for them I really think they might get it despite the lack of football specific stadia.
I think it is good to have it in a football power house nation such as Iran, South Korea, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia or Japan.
The Chinese FA has officially filed the bid to host the 2023 Asian Cup. http://sports.sina.com.cn/china/national/2019-03-15/doc-ihsxncvh2866017.shtml

Seems China has now officially withdrawn as host. Any nations keen on taking it on? Normally I would be happy for us to put our hands up as host but with the WWC to be held here in 2023 that's just not possible. Will Japan or Korea Rep put up their hands? Will it go back to the middle east? Maybe a central Asian nation or a South Asian nation will put up a bid. Maybe joint bidders. Will AFC select from one of the 13 already qualified teams or pick one yet to qualify. Important update on AFC Asian Cup 2023™ hosts (the-afc.com)
There is talk that AFC contacted Japan about hosting and JFA are interested. They will probably need to talk to the government. Japan still needs to open up to foreign tourists but everyone will likely be happy if they do host it.
Just saw on AFC site that 4 nations have put in an expression of interest to host AC 2023 following China's withdrawal. Four Expressions of Interest received to host AFC Asian Cup 2023™ (the-afc.com) We have Korea, Indonesia, Qatar and Australia. Surprised we put one in as we probably have enough on our plate with the WWC next year. They don't coincide but they aren't very far apart either. Current schedule has AC finishing July 16 and WWC starting on July 20. My preference is for either Indonesia or Korea to do the job as Australia and Qatar are relatively recent hosts and both have another major tournament coming up.
You can call me homer but I think Korea will eventually win the bid. 1) Korea has not hosted the tournament since 1960; Indonesia did with its neighbors Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia in 2007 (Not to forget to mention the Indonesians hosted the 2018 Asian Games as well.) 2) Sporting Infrastructure is already there. We've got a number of stadiums and training facilities suitable for hosting FIFA-sanctioned events; those were successfully utilized during 2002 FIFA World Cup, 2007 FIFA U17 World Cup, and 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup. Just need a bit of reinforcements. We also have high quality of non-sporting infrastructure (i.e. accommodations, communications, transportation, etc.) as well. It's no secret we boast one of the fastest internet bandwidth in the world. 3) Given that there are significant numbers of workforce from ASEAN and Central Asia working at factories and farms in Korea, we can still draw some respectable attendance in matches where Team Korea doesn't play. Plus, travel from China or Japan to Korea is not a big challenge at all. 4) UAE hosted the previous edition of the tournament. It is now time for an East Asian country to do its part.
sure fair enough. I want Qatar to host it as I live here, but other than that Korea would probably be the best choice. Weren't they the original bidders after China anyway?
Qatar has been designated as the host country to organize the Asian Cup 2023. The rotation was not respected because normally it was the turn of a country from East Asia to be designated for the organization. Moreover, the competition was supposed to take place from June to July 2023, but due to the extreme weather in this region at that time, they will probably have to postpone it to January 2024. Qatar to stage 2023 Asian Cup, most likely in early 2024 | Reuters
Is was not respected because in East Asia is still that histeria with the so called virus and South Korea government still has some shit measures in place. Qatar deserves this because they were there for AFC when it was that tough times in 2020 and 2021.
