I thought Weigl was exposed badly today. Tuchel was forced to bring Sahin in to stop the midfield from continuing to be overrun.

Weigl is physically weak, slow and has only average technique. He is easily taken out of the match if he's pressed. You saw that in both matches against Bayern, and again today.

Well since it never hit you, once I talked about Xabi and Lahm slipping in PKs you should have known I was joking ;)

Unfortunately, none of our German players at BVB really distinguished themselves tonight. Hummels had the best game, but Weigl was overrun in the middle, Durm and Bender struggled badly to contain Origi, Reus and Castro were very anonymous in attack.

BVB really miss Gündogan pulling the strings in midfield, I think. BVB also badly lack depth in the attacking department.

I thought Weigl was quite good..fantastic in breaking attacks, snatching..in the first half he sent that brilliant long ball to Schmelzer which Miki failed to capitalize properly

I didn't see that. Sure, he struggled a bit in a physical match, but as noted by @dips82, you also saw a lot of his strengths. It doesn't help that Castro added nothing to the attack. Is Weigl too cautious with the ball? Sure, but he's not slow and his technique is pretty good, actually. His passing is crisp and his first touch isn't at all a liability either. Sahin added little IMO, to be honest, not sure why you brought that into it. There are kinks to work out, but I think you're seeing what you want to see instead of what's there.

I find it kind of absurd that nekki and yourself only chose to speak up during the one or two matches in which he might've struggled a bit as opposed to the countless matches in which he did well. He's still easily a worthwhile option if Loew ever used a 6 in his midfields.

Because this was a milestone and he didnt pass the test. In two months time the tourney starts and he failed against mediocre opposition. No use in lurking around the Dortmund forum all the time to tell you hes still nowhere near the hype he is made up to be and my opinion on him hasnt changed. He might be an option after this summer. We dont know. But as of now and for the moment, he is not.

I think between Weigl and Kimmich, Weigl will probably make it first in the NT

Weigl didn't play bad. He was one of the reasons Dortmund dominated the midfield all match long.
@boris: he's back and has already scored but he needs time to gain match fitness. I guess we can only tell after end of Bundesliga if he could be part of the team. My prediction is that it's too short for him to make the team unfortunately. We could have used his speed when he's in top form.

Can anyone explain to me the difference between the following players :
Schweinie , Khedira ,Kroos and Gundogan ? Can Kramer maybe as well !!
From a holding midfield perspective . They all play the same position.
I hear terms like box to box players , midfield destroyers and opening up the game from with in your own side . I get that that some are stronger defensively then others , but don't most of them play a similar role?
Like Kroos Gundogan combination I believe both are more offence orientated .
Although oezil Kroos against Italy worked quite good as well to my surprise.
Schweinie / Khedira combo worked well over the years.
    You get the double 6 position or 6and 8 ... 10 .
I guess they can all play in various positions.

Yes I thought his speed, could have added a different dynamic to our game in some situations. Better option then Bellrabi

I don't have time to watch every BVB match, so I tend to only catch the marque matches. In those Weigl has not impressed me. He was OK, nothing more. He struggles when pressed and in both matches against Bayern our pressing completely took him out of the match.

Only 20 years old. Still 3-4 years away from his prime. We can't be too critical of him at this point in time. He has good potential and Tuchel rates him highly.
