When I hear or see something happening with the proposed Miami FC that indicates it will be ready to field a team for 2016 I'll be happy. Most of us here want it to happen for the short road trip. St Pete is not too bad, but Jax looks to be a an overnighter. However, we've heard nothing to indicate anything happening that shows us that a team will be ready to go next year.

BTW, the FAA should be out of the picture now. Word is that the City of Ft Lauderdale has delivered the first payment to them for the City to purchase the entire tract of land that both stadiums are located on. Next is arranging an appropriate lease with Schitterbahn to construct a water park on the site that includes a new or revitalized Lockhart Stadium for the Ft Lauderdale Strikers to sub-lease long term (a minimum of 10 years). If all goes well we should have a new 15,00 to 20,000 capacity stadium by 2017 or 2018. With that the Strikers should be here to stay.

As with all things related to teams in this sport in SoFl we will believe it when we see it. For all that, it sure sounds nice....:)

ETA: FYI, I just took you off of my *ignore* list. It looks like you've decided to rejoin the human race.

Go to he big tree at the southeast corner of the stadium. F19 has its tailgate there. You and all fans from Miami may attend, just leave your attitudes at the county line. I'm buying something decent for you and Uncle Ed. Plus the appropriate stuff for myself. I should be there around 4PM. BTW, beer is also available at that location after the game. Same thing applies. Hope to see you and Uncle Ed.

    2,331 from @PieterUAshow

Very disappointing, if true, on multiple levels; this game was the BeIN debut for the NASL, FTL had 11k+ for the home opener last year, the game was against a potential interstate rival that could have spawned a geographic derby.

I ask the supporters/locals what happened?

EDIT: I am not just trying to be a jackass or snarky, seriously what happened?

This was an actual count from the gate. It was not padded like the last few years. The Strikers have spent $$ and time out of the USA and done diddly in Broward. They must now spend time and $$ here immediately. From the FO folks I talked to this is now known. It will be done. They'd best get their heads on straight and realize than no one in China or Brazil will attend games here.

Miami has spent all their resources on the April 9 opener in M-D and have done little to promote this game. Hopefully they will do better.

I guess they were underestimating how many $'s it takes to get a local in the seats and undervalued their marketing in the past. Is it fair to say this was a slap in the face for them (hopefully a wake up call) as they did not get nearly half the turnout they expected?

I will be honest, when I heard they were going to China for pre-season it made me think: "Wow these guys are blowing up! When everyone else is looking for warmer weather to practice and warm up, this d2 team is doing an international tour!". I am disappointed to say the least. This showing slapped me in the face, I somehow thought that this organization (within the NASL that is) was well ahead of the curve...

everything about the day was disappointing. The club has advertised internationally and to the supporters that would be going to the games anyways. Anything local and outside of "those in the know" has been lacking. On top of that, the product on the field is going to have to improve (going on what was on offer Saturday) for those newcomers to take an interest in the team and return.
