I'm only kidding. A bunch of players I think should start next friendly (based on England game):

Afellay, Zoet, Blind and Janssen (and maybe v. Aanholt because we got nobody else...LOL)

Afellay is still the only dutch midfielder that has a certain volume with the ball. He doesn't do much in terms of attack, he can't defend, but he brings some possession quality and serenity for the midfield, and he can be good for counter attacks due to his speed. He should have done more tonight though.

I don't see any other dutch midfielder able to have volume...Klaassen and Wijnaldum can only project forward and score some goals, they'll always suck in every other aspect of the game. No volume at all with the ball, poor passing.
Van Ginkel is a bit like that as well. Propper is a different kind of player, like a old school 10, but little volume as well.

Clasie is never reassuring for me, his passing can be good but he always have some dangerous givesaway and looks insecure due to his frame.

Bazoer can be great in few years, now he is still a bit anonymous with the ball.

Can Vormer and De Roon be better than Blind as DM ? They are agressive and tenacious, but don't look like great footballers.

Hah wow did not expect a win.
Happy if the result can give some confidence and swagger, but not happy if it means we see Oranje sitting deep like that and inviting so much possession, even if it's not really all that dominating. Some say it was a B squad for them, but I don't think it's exactly our A squad either. Also strange hear people hoping for a loss, but it's not as if they would sack Blind now if they had not before.
Even though it's only a friendly, it's all we have until fall so I was right into it when I finally got home from work.
    Funny from OptaJohan:
6 - The Netherlands had six shots on target vs England, the most the English conceded on target in a game since the World Cup 2014. Shocked.
..And that includes their last 2 matches, wins v Germany and France.

I liked Zoet, seemed assured. No chance on the goal and basically flawless otherwise. Do not feel that a weird goal may just happen at any moment so actually all of a sudden I prefer him with Krul out.
Blind and Bruma were very good besides the Vardy goal (but 3 others probably also just as, if not more, guilty on the play), and maybe another moment or two Bruma left Vardy a little too much space. But generally I was glad to see CBs playing well.
Veltman decent too, but did not offer anything forward. Although I saw Bruma calling him in a couple times and probably good with another strange midfield, so maybe that was part of the (anti) game plan for this game.
Willems definitely not back to his best yet. Esp once Walcott introduced. Although, why play an attacking LB when you plan to sit tight in your own end? Also he should really stop taking free kicks already.
I guess van Aanholt is not really a defensive LB either, but PVA did look real good when he came on, def added a spark and for forward well.
Not a great midfield, was clear none had ever really played together there (or that they weren't sure if they were man marking or zonal, Danny) found no chemistry and we lacked in possession.
Regardless I actually liked Bazoer. Great place for a 19 year old, learning his trade at v England at wembley. Was beaten a couple times by Barkley but grew into it and had the edge in the end I think. Has lots to learn of course but great experience.
Agree with O14 Wijnaldum can be CAM but not a great deep mid. Afellay not as much of an impact as with France at all, but I'm happy if his hands were warm in those stupid gloves.
van Ginkel ran around a bit anonymously when Blind finally got a sub prepared for inured Bazoer. Clasie no time. Too bad, 433 suits him better, would've liked to see Clasie-Bazoer
    --Wijnaldum--
though after France match can understand it as Clasie not good, but was also 532 with wing backs not being wing backs, CBs not spreading out, and a poor Klaassen and old Sneijder. But Strootman ever comes back Clasie is utility anyways, seems to be passing on his chance to step up.
Promes looked good to me, I think he'd have gotten the better of Danny Rose, then again Narsingh even played thru Rose. Sucked he got hurt early.
Not a big Narsingh fan, but was in the right place to finish that Janssen set up.
Janssen great and a tribute to hard work and brings a good intensity. Right from the start closing defenders down and causing mistakes. Earned the pk and took advantage of Chubbielka to assist the winner.
Memphis makes good free kicks (unless he shoots) but otherwise not so good, his Man U form showing here. Should take the cue from Janssen, simplify his game and put some real work into it.

I hope we can leave 532 alone, especially if we cannot execute it in an attacking manor. Not like we are stopping goals with it anyways, with 14 in the last 7 since Blind took over.
Not beautiful but for now at the least I'm happy to have all the fellas at footie off my back about all my orange!

Not to mention the U17s and U19s both qualifying for their ECs today!

I think this is what will happen. At the back of this win Danny will take a bunch of group to summer camp. With Robben, defeat all Poland, Austria and ROI. Next comes the qualifiers. You can pencil in now France will be the group leaders. 2 spot is up for grabs. Oh nooooo Robben gets injured:eek: and can't play in the qualifiers and Sweden will pin them.

On other note I will say this now Bulgaria is not a walk over team.

Das phantom. I think Makaay was a good finisher, made smart runs, but was he a defensive +? A hard worker? I don't remember him that way.

Bruma looks much better in a 4-3-3 than in a 5-3-2, you could see it both with NT and PSV last games.

Some new LB's should be tested next games...With Kongolo, Zeegelaar, Buttner, Brenet, maybe even Dijks (not fan), there's enough material to pick from.

Van Aanholt isn't a serious LB for me, just too light, does better as a winger.

The only significant match was the one against France. And he put new light on how our football is pathetic. The Netherlands are the only team in the world where players are not able to recover a ball at the feet of the opponent. The French had fun in midfield. You can not be good technically but in high performance sport, you need a minimum of determination and aggression.
If this continues the next two games against them will be even more painful. France, I repeat, shows our shortcomings. Their players are faster, more technical, more mature and more powerful. Even Adrien Rabiot, Schneiderlin, Etienne Capoue, Kondogbia or Yoann Cabaye would have destroyed us. I am desperate...
How can we seriously expect something with Klaassen, Van Ginkel, Propper, Vejinovic or Luuk De Jong. Yassin Ayoub is better than these guys, and he's still Dutch. Our coaches have shit in their eyes, otherwise how to explain that De Boer ignores a Lartey. Willems should be positioned in the middle of the field, that give us a minimum of dynamism ... We are in big trouble, guys.
I will not be against the choice of a foreign coach. Ajax also should think outside expertise. Coaches as Schmidt or Puel better exploit the potential of the team that De Boer.

Well not a game for the classic's but a win is a win and I'm happy about that!
I think most of you have given your interpretations of the game and I agree and disagree in a lot of cases. My take is that we were by far the more attacking team for the first 35 mins (approx) with more shots and more go forward than England, in fact our mids (mainly Affellay) were looking okay. We should have had a clear penalty (rose on Veltman) and could have been up 1 nil. But then England scores, not long after Narsingh comes on (not his fault). Before the goal the commentators were praising the Dutch for the improved performance and all of a sudden a lapse in defence by Blind and Bruma and others Depay also culpable, and our heads go down!
Second half starts and yes handball by Rose - penalty ( payback from first half) from here I don't think either side really took the game by the scruff of the neck there were chance for both sides and we got lucky with the second goal, I'm saying 50/50 call not as clear cut as the first half penalty shout!
After we score Affellay really shuts the midfield down for us just trying to keep possession and a lot of back passing - not what we want to see, but probably doing as he has been told by super coach Blind Lol.
I've been critical of Daly but today he made a critical intervention blocking a shot that was destined for the back of the net, so I will give him props for that.
For now I will enjoy the win knowing we have a lot of improvement in us.

  16. He goes too far up the pitch. His strong point is delivering a super cross from half way the enemy's half into the box. Anything further up and he's useless. So donot the F..ck do it:mad:

How is Zoet in stopping penalties?? Better or worse than Jasper??

  19. Not necesary as he woul keep 2 defenders with him. They never would go forward and leave him unguarded. If you have the capacity to strike the fear fo God into defenders (mocking the atheist) you donot have to block them from attacking. Remember the 4 goals he scored against Ajax? That happens whenyou let him out of your sight.
So if Jansen can get near that quality that would be very good.

Janssen made some really nice passes too. I think he made more passes in one game then Huntelaar made his whole career :ROFLMAO:

  21. Would KlaasJan want to headbutt him too:p

I've been calling for Janssen to the NT for a while now. The only thing he lacks kind of is top end pace and any really nice dribbling, but he makes up for it with his work rate and tenacity. His hold up play, strength, finishing and passing is really on a good level for a striker -- I don't like people ragging on him for missing some chances in his first ever start for Oranje against one of the most in form NTs in the world...I mean, come on, he's 21 and deserves a bit of leeway. He still scored a fantastic penalty and set up Narsingh beautifully for his goal.

I also thought Promes was good before getting injured, and I still think Blind would be better suited to midfield. I think if everyone is healthy right now our best line-up looks like this:

    Zoet
    Janmaat - Bruma - van Dijk - ???
    Bazoer - ??? - Blind
    Robben - Janssen - Promes

Not really sure who should start at LB (Kongolo perhaps?) or in that CM spot...maybe Propper? Maybe Afellay? Though you know it will be given to Sneijder if he's healthy which is kind of silly. Still this is not a bad team and I think some people (mostly just one really loud person) were a bit harsh on our team yesterday.

What does the technical director of the KNVB do? What influence does he have in the senior NT team? What influence does he have in youthtraining in the country? Why would we want LVG for it?

Genuinely dont know the answer to any of these questions.
