I have a feeling it's gonna be more difficult getting attendance numbers this year. Can't find them on the website. I can also say OCB didn't do that great. Probably 2,000-ish, and most were scared off by the lightning delay.
Here's the game recap, gives the same number http://www.tulsaroughnecksfc.com/la...in-opener-2-0-before-over-5200-at-oneok-field 6812 for Swope Park Rangers inaugural game against T2 http://www.sportingkc.com/post/2016...inaugural-game-2-1-against-portland-timbers-2 2715 for AZ United at LA Galaxy II http://arizonaunited.com/recap-arizona-united-soccer-club-falls-2-0-in-opening-match-of-2016/

According to Wikipedia: 5,646 at Taft Stadium https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Oklahoma_City_Energy_FC_season
Orange County: 2,455 Real Monarchs: 2,453 Sounders 2: 1,277 Red Bulls 2: Still no info FC Montreal: 966* *Unconfirmed. Comes from Bethlehem Steel's Wikipedia page. I hate USL's new website. It's extremely ugly, everything is the wrong size, different fonts everywhere, doesn't have previously available stat info (both current and historic).
Yeah I have to concur... USL website took a huge step back for the start of the season. It's not user friendly at all.
Certainly didn't look like this much, and maybe even a bit concerning since all SKC season ticket holders (14k strong) were given free tickets to this game. So they obviously didn't count "tickets distributed" for this, so it may be accurate and just didn't look like that many in a stadium that usually seats 18k. Hope they stay around the 2-3k mark at Swope Park.
I have to agree. I watched the first 30 mins of the SPR match before switching over to the STLFC game and Sporting Park (now Mercy Park I guess) looked bare and was very quiet, minus a couple hundred supporters behind one of the nets. I guess some people filed in after the first 30??? Seems unlikely but you're right, that's a large soccer specific facility that holds nearly 20k. I was there last year when STLFC took on SKC in the USOC and it was filled to capacity. Just didn't seem like 6k+ were there for that match. They have a beautiful facility for their regularly scheduled home matches so I too hope they can fill the joint consistently. Looking forward to the SPR v. STLFC match on May 7 @ STL.
They rarely showed the side that the camera is on but when they did, there were quite a few people there too. The crowd got louder in the 2nd half. I'm doubting it was much less than 6k, but it's hard to tell. Unlike other USL stadiums (including the one they'll play at for 90% of their games) this stadium has a LOT of suites (on the camera side of the field) and I'm sure people used their SKC suite tickets to give out to others and they probably got used ... so I'm guessing even though it looked "bare" there were quite a few people there. Will be much more interested seeing them at the limited capacity of Swope Park (which is formally called Children's Mercy Championship Field I believe).
the east and west stands definitely filled in more than the north and south ends https://m.facebook.com/groups/886584718104605?view=permalink&id=960569087372834
Solid point. I know sometimes for games such as this one that fans tend to trinkle in shortly after kickoff. And, as a former KC Chiefs season ticket holder, I know that KC fans enjoy their time in those parking lots almost as much as the games themselves. All in all, a great first showing for SPR. As I hinted to earlier, we STLFC fans are quite excited for the possibility of a budding rivalry with another MO squad in USL. As we don't have a MLS side (yet) we take STLFC quite seriously to show the country we can support a club. But, I've always kept an eye on SKC and will do the same for SPR.
Let's leave this thread for attendance numbers and try to keep the inter-league rivalries to a minimum. Maybe start a new thread to debate attendance accuracy and/or conspiracies.
I'm told the numbers are being entered and tabulated, they just have not been able to make them show up in box scores online yet. But they're working on that. The haste to get the new platform ready for opening day left some dust, apparently.
3,655 in Bethlehem: http://www.philadelphiaunion.com/po...m-steel-fc-fall-2-1-fc-cincinnati-home-opener I'll add that it was bitterly cold due to high winds.
I was one of the 3,655. The winds blew the ball around and blew some of my hot chocolate onto my sweatshirt.
Got a picture that's not pregame? Orlando City frequently has their fan base show up "fashionably late", especially on Friday night games. Usually the lower bowl is full half way through the first half. The later tweet looks a lot closer to what they announced. They probably needed to not procrastinate on testing and rollout. So I guess we're in a holding pattern, at the mercy of what teams dare to announce on Twitter or in website game recaps.
