So far a good offseason in San Antonio. Sad to see the Scorpions go, but really happy to have different leadership to hopefully stabilize the franchise. Excited to be able to go on a couple of road trips this off season.
it is almost getting a little silly. However, I would think they are conducting a few focus groups and probably have mailed out some selective survey monkeys. I am hoping that it will be worth the wait and hope the wait because they are being thorough. It needs to be a name that is MLS worthy as well as makes San Antonio proud.
They're likely waiting to have the crest/badge finalized so they can release them together. Much strong to do that than leak a name and then pop the crest. Together you get an identity. Smarter that way IMO.
Call me Ishmael. Some years ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me on at home, I thought I would adventure about a little and see the soccer part of the world. It is a way I have of driving off the spleen and regulating the circulation. Whenever I find myself growing grim about the mouth; whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my soul; whenever I find myself involuntarily pausing before coffin warehouses, and bringing up the rear of every funeral I meet; and especially whenever my hypos get such an upper hand of me, that it requires a strong moral principle to prevent me from deliberately stepping into the street, and methodically knocking people's hats off- then, I account it high time to get to the soccer match as soon as I can. This is my substitute for pistol and ball. With a philosophical flourish Cato throws himself upon his sword; I quietly take to following the soccer match. There is nothing surprising in this. If they but knew it, almost all men in their degree, some time or other, cherish very nearly the same feelings towards the soccer match with me.
So we are about 60 days from kickoff. Need to start hearing about player movements and how about a name. One thing I have noticed with SSE is they do things at their pace, which is slow... I guess as long as its done right it will work in the end. Hope to hear some news after the schedule comes out this week.
We should just wait till opening game to release the players we sign. They could train at a unknown location. Then on game day. It's Boom.. Here is our starting lineup
talked to one of my sources today and he said the badge and name hold up is because of delays in copyright clearinghouse. apparently a very bureaucratic bureau that bunch.
The USL schedule rollout was this week "big" news. Last week it was the GM. There will be no announcement until early next week or possibly the week thereafter. SSE marketing team is architecturally staging club news, and timing it purposely in order to build excitement and anticipation toward the opening kick.
Any word on players being announced? I have heard that they have stuff in the pipeline, but I think they do need to start to announce some players. Would like to be able to start to put some faces to who the team is.
Apparently next week's announcements will be players! 👇🏼 pic.twitter.com/gj9qDC4sNt— San Antonio FC (@SanAntonioFC) January 29, 2016
San Antonio is holding open tryouts on February 5, with call backs taking place on February 13. http://www.kens5.com/story/sports/2016/01/18/usl-san-antonio-soccer-team-hold-open-tryouts/78986040/
Expect a fun couple of weeks. At the Crocketteers AGM, Mr. Tim Holt mentioned that preseason matches, players who have been signed and team name to be announced in the next week or so. So looking forward to seeing who the first players announced are and who we will get to play.
So San Antonio will face NASL OKC Rayo in Dallas on Feb 28? odd move that neither team is hosting. Would of been great to see Coach Marcina and Billy Forbes one last time in San Antonio.
MLS in San Antonio Retweeted USL San Antonio @USLSanAntonio 23m23 minutes ago @AaronRamon58 name and crest Thursday. Merch at a later date.
Make plans to be at this very special announcement tomorrow night! Let's show @mls how dedicated our fans are. pic.twitter.com/xE2jclsC3P— MLS in San Antonio (@MLSinSA) February 3, 2016
We Are San Antonio FC. #SAFC pic.twitter.com/9NWwxts1ah— San Antonio FC (@SanAntonioFC) February 5, 2016 I'm sure you're all out at the brand reveal, but in case not, here you go. Was there a kit reveal, too? I missed the Periscope.
Yeah, there's no way I could have guessed that name. Words cannot describe my distaste. So sick of this B.S. Someone has to put an end to this copycat bland trend thats been going on in recent years for team names.
No the kits were not revealed. It was announced that the would be having them revealed closer to the start of the season. Have to admit that it was pretty cool with how they had the party last night. And then bringing on 4 players including a couple of Scorpions was great.
I'm more irked by the SPUR ... I just really wanted an identity all it's own. The black/silver scheme ties us to the umbrella ... meh. Unfortunately it DOES look good .... Of course, MLS has the sanantoniofc.com domain .. sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
while most normal fans are discussing players, coaches and schedules, I am wondering about stuff like what are they going to do with the seat colors at Toyota and if they will use the Coyote as a mascot.
We Have Stadium, Arena, Ballpark and Dome seats for sale. http://www.stadiumseatdepot.com/Stadium_Arena_Ballpark_Dome_Seat_Seats_Bleachers.aspx https://www.archerseating.com/ http://www.ebay.com/bhp/stadium-seat
New stadium seat costs range from $110-$130, per seat, depending on the cost of installation. So to purchase and install 8,000 seats at Toyota would cost the franchise around $1,000,000 less what income offset would be received from the sale of the old seats to another franchise (with red, yellow and black colors). I wonder if this is part of the plan? and if so, when are they going to get started?
