much negative buzz was generated when Guangzhou Evergrande refused to honour the "jersey sponsorship deal" during Asian Champions League final in 2015. Guangzhou Evergrande did a good job in winning two Asian Champions League title in five years. it is yet to be seen can we bring those success to the younger generation of Chinese players, where playing time is still not enough for them..

BIG NEWS! Guangzhou Evergrande sold Elkeson to Shanghai SIPG for 17 million euros. Why sell such an important player to a title rival?
Good move. They saw that he will not play at the same level as he did in the beginning. The last season was poor, but still helped the team in the ACL final. Smart move from Evergrande board. A lot of money, they don't need money, but are welcome, they will buy a good replacement with this money,.
Yeah I gotta agree with Radu Razvan, Elkeson wasn't at the same level as he was in 2013/14. He was injured for awhile in 2015 and my guess is he won't truly be 100% until 2017. You add that his contract runs out at the end of 2016 and you can see why Evergrande have decided to cash out, especially when you consider the amounts of money on offer, even if it is to a rival.
The new Tiajin project is great on the papper. They should win promotion without many problems. 3 good Brazilian the latest is a young kid from Santos and 3 good local players. The keeper from Greentown, Sun Ke and Zhao Xuri. Already 6 very good players. They should thrive in the League One.
The amount of money that second division team has right now is unbelievable. If they don't get first place this season, I'll be shocked.
Elkeson is good, but the Club World Cup was a clear indication that he was still lacking in some regard. Dominating against weaker opposition in the CSL is one thing, but playing against the best in world is another. Don't forget that Evergrande still has Alan who basically sat out the entire 2014/2015 season with injury and he is no doubt a superior player than Elkeson when healthy. I am assuming that Evergrande wants another "big-name" player, especially from the Premier League. According to some reports, Evergrande is very close to signing Jelavic or perhaps even Gervinho (although he might be linked to Suning who is throwing staggering amounts out there right now). Just hope they learned their lesson with Robinho and Gilardino. No more washed out players please!
Caicedo also among the speculations. I think Alan and Elkeson are about at the same level. What did Alan did? Scored a lot of goals in a weak league where Salzburg was by far the best in Austria at that time and some nice EL goals. Is good, but not great in comparsion with Elkeson.
Elkeson Guangzhou Evergrande --> Shanghai SIPG transfer fee 18.5m EUR salary 6.5m EUR per year Gil Corinthians --> Shandong Luneng transfer fee 10m EUR salary 4m EUR per year Gervinho AS Roma --> Hebei CFFC Transfer fee 15m EUR salary 5m EUR per year
Ramires to Jiangsu Suning for 28 million euros (smashes the transfer record for Elkeson a few days ago) Guarin to Shanghai Shenhua for 13 million euros Craziest transfer window in Chinese football history??
Lol I hope Guangzhou has something bigger up their sleeves or else at this rate they will have trouble maintaining an AFC Champions League, let alone defending their league title. Virtually every team in the top half of the CSL got MUCH BETTER. This should be a very interesting season (probably even crazier than last year) and at this rate, CSL just might make a run for top Asian league
The difference between Guangzhou and most CSL teams is their domestic players. Pretty much every CSL team have quality foreign players, but most of the chinese players suck. Guangzhou could probably field our whole NT which would arguably be our strongest line-up, bar a few players. I like how Guangzhou have been focusing on young domestic players recently, they know that their core players are getting old and they need to refresh the side.
Guangzhou also has an element of stability, and a culture of winning built up over the last 5 years. I would expect this coming season to be the most competitive yet. Quite excited for how it'll play out and how the CSL teams do in the CL.
A huge chunk of our players plying their trade abroad in the lower european leagues have returned to China. The only players i'm disappointed in seeing return to China is Xu Xin and Zhang Xiuwei, those two for me have higher potential than the other players.
Jackson Martinez of Atletico Madrid might go to Guangzhou Evergrande for 42 million euros. If this happens, this will be the third time the CSL transfer record has been broken in just this transfer window!
