Or good news, in that it's likely that he just had an issue fixed that could've hampered his entire season.

superdraft complete. youngsters with the best chance to compete this year as rookie flavors will be Brandon Vincent (left back) who went to Chicago, Jordan McCrary (right back/left back in emergency) who went to New England, and Joshua Yaro who went to the Union (is he eligible?). Jack Harrison went first overall but is likely buried in that depth chart at NYCFC

Homegrowns not included, but it is beginning to look like the superdraft is working its way towards irrelevance, but hopefully there are a few surprises in this bunch

Is Harrison eligible? I just read an article on his draft/trade thing on the MLS website, and it seemed like he has only been in the country for 2-3 years after coming up through the Man U academy.

I dont know him or Yaro's status. Wondering if theyll both be eligable in a few years. Yaro is certainly a better shout at playing time

I'm pretty sure neither of those blokes are citizens. They'd have to marinate. But worth keeping an eye on.

City Group are such wankers. They are already super crowded in the middle of the park, but I guess his affiliation w/ Manchester made him too appealing. Wouldn't Yaro have been a no brainer with their shambolic defense? I guess they've just decided they'd be an over-stocked offensive team with a bunch of guys playing out of position or not at all.

Maybe the Fire become a team to watch now with Vincent and Campbell. I flipped out a bit when I saw Vincent land there, thinking Joevin Jones would be in his way, but that was good news hearing he was moved in a corresponding trade. That clears the way for Vincent. And Campbell should have a good shot of starting right away given Chicago's defensive problems. Plus, he's gotten some positive reviews here (haven't seen him personally), and central defenders taken high in the draft have a good track record. Fire still have some holes to fill. They need a #8 to link defense and attack, for one. I don't think Stephens is a starter. Playing matchmaker, Bradley and Agudelo would look good there. They pick up some extra TAM today.

Speaking of which, so did the Galaxy. I suspected they'd trade the pick for TAM. I guess for moves like Lescott and De Jong. Trying to be the oldest team in the league. If Lletget stays, I really hope they don't crowd him out under this directive, or miscast him as a wide mid again. I suggested on their board a 4-3-3 and you can fit Lletget in their as their most advanced CM, with Gerrard behind, and De Jong or whoever as d-mid.

Hodan (Earthquakes) and Verso (Impact) are some good later picks I thought. Hodan's stock dropped from playing out of position, and Verso is the third player from Stanford I thought stood out, for his dynamism. I don't watch that much college footy. Anybody else have some other (non-hipster) picks to watch out for from an American viewpoint?

I saw this comment on twitter, and I thought it was pretty disturbing that such a thing would happen, but its probably true. Glorified farm team NYCFC is.

Huh? Harrison is very unlikely to be a Man City player, Manchester connections or not (does City have any players from Manchester?). It's nuts - Vierra chose Harrison, rightly or wrongly, to help NYFC.

Seems realistic to me. This kid proves he's too good for MLS, maybe has a Miazga type of impact, a lot of top European teams have interest in a kid with an EU passport, and Man City gets him gets him if they want and doesn't have to pay any many.

I think this is a weak draft for American players. Last season we had Polster, Parker, Parker, Abdul-Saalam, Roldan, Dia, Porter (until his injury) as good American picks that got playing time. This year I don't think we get more than Vincent, Rosenberry, Campbell, McCrary.

Tony Alfaro and Kyle Fisher could also play right away, although I don't think its a guarantee.

Super unlikely. I'd say it borders on the realm of impossible. I'd assume they just like what he brings and with Lampard and Pirlo older, may need rest throughout the season so the depth could help? Also a chance to learn from those 2.

It's nuts - it's a long way from "too good for MLS", which he is a long way from, to playing for Man City. The motivation for getting him is obviously, right or wrong, to make NYFC better, not to get a player for Man City.

I just don't really trust what Man City is doing with that club. It seems like a farm team to me. Originally I thought that team was going to be really good for MLS, but first the Lampard fiasco, then it seemed like they stopped letting Kreis pick the lineup, and then they fired him and brought in the Man City U-23 coach. Just seems like a lot of things are done to cater to Man City and to sell tickets, not win games.

Depends on what you think of Vieira, though. He wasn't just Man City's u23 coach. He was almost Newcastle's coach last year as well wasn't he? As well as being one of the better footballers that I've ever seen personally. Hell, I think the signing could be a coup for NYCFC. Vieira seems like a bright guy and being a former star, would obviously have no issue commanding the respect of anyone on that team.

Maybe, but European coaches with no MLS experience have traditionally struggled.

Does anyone think Mix might be traded? They now have Lampard, Pirlo, Poku, Harrison, Diskerud and McNamara as players who play similar positions.

Send Mix to a team that could use help in the middle of the field. He's a good player and would have no problem starting for lots of teams, imo.

    Teams that could use Mix

    East:
Chicago-They've got nearly no one in CM, so it would make a lot of sense
Columbus-Not a fit, they have Trapp and Tchani
DC-Would make a lot of sense. They don't really have any starting CM's, besides maybe their rookies
Montreal-I think he'd be their best CM. He's better than Donadel and most of their CM's are defensive types anyway.
New England-This seems to make the most sense. Could be a Jones replacement, and they need a #8
    NYRB-Makes no sense
Orlando-Doesn't make sense, they have Higuita
Philly-They don't employ MLS quality CM's, so it makes sense
Toronto-No, they have too many CM's, doesn't make sense

    West:
Colorado-No, doesn't make sense, too similar to Powers
Dallas-Makes some sense. Could be a good fit next to Acosta in midfield.
Houston-They could use a player that plays like Mix, especially considering they just lost their most creative player
LA-No, they have Stevie G and Lletget already
Portland-I don't think so, unless Nagbe is playing as a winger
RSL-Would make sense to put him next to Beckerman
San Jose-Makes sense, whether thats next to Alashe or Godoy
    Seattle-Makes sense next to Alonso
Sporting KC- Not a fit, they have too many quality players in that CM.
Vancouver- I don't think so. That midfield trip is very good, and works well together.

If I had my choice out of those teams, I'd like to see him in Dallas. I actually like watching them play.

The LA Galaxy just signed Ema Boateng, a speedy left sided player. I wonder how Lleget, Zardes, BJIV, and Villarreal will all fit in this season.

Gio and and Keana are always going to start.

You do realize that MLS is a single entity system and that all player contracts are owned by MLS not the individual "clubs"?

Garber was asking for it with the sale of that franchise. I have to admit there is something to the idea of bringing different ideas into the league - e.g. Brazilians to Orlando, big money PremArabs to Yankee Stadium, etc. But we shouldn't be surprised when the cub turns wolf.

Not sure about the Red Bulls' CB depth, so Zach Carroll may have a reasonable chance at playing time if he makes the team. I didn't see him play in college, but he's tall and he looked reasonably athletic as a USA U-17 5 years ago. No way he'll be a national team level player unless his touch and passing have gotten a lot better. Maybe Cole Seiler for Vancouver will get playing time also. It seems that a lot of teams are willing to play college centerbacks and that the number of decent guys who can hold their own in MLS is higher than it is at least most other positions.

I do know that, but if the owners want this guy to join Man City, in other words if Man City wants this guy, as the owners care more about that team, they can tell MLS to negotiate with Man City instead of other clubs. Garber tries to avoid confrontation. I don't think he'd actually take a stance against the City owners. He's already had a chance to do it, and hasn't.
