Six Riverhounds players are under contract for 2016, according to team president Richard Nightingale.
    F Vini Dantas
    MF Kevin Kerr
    MF Lebo Moloto
    MF Stephen Okai
    GK Ryan Thompson
    MF Rob Vincent*
*Currently on trial with D.C. United

Hounds already have six on the roster for next year. Seems like they really need to focus on some solid D signings. Hopefully Arena will be back.

I thinking resigning Brown is a must. He improved quite a bit over the season, and I'm concerned about Thompson's durability.

Other guys I hope they can get back are Dallman, Pasher, and Hunt

Agreed. Dallman can fit in anywhere on the field, and Pasher could be the one of the more dangerous outside dmen in the league.

I just hope to see defensive signings sooner than later this offseason. Way too many games lost because the team couldn't play defense for a full 90+ minutes.

Any speculation about who will take over for Richard Nightingale?

No idea. Kind of tough to speculate on FO stuff cause it could be absolutely anyone. Nightingale himself came out of no where.

I just learned of that today (trying to follow team from California). I wonder what happened.

Also, are the U-23s excluded from the USOC?

Word on the street is his family never moved out here with him (they're from Portland) and seemingly didn't want to, so he decided to move back out there with him. It stinks, and even though it's totally understandable it still doesn't look great for the team. Nightingale made a great impression. He was very affable and easy to reach and talk to. He came down to the supporters section a lot, and in general started to mend a lot of burned bridges in the local soccer community. Hopefully whoever they bring in next is more of the same so that the Hounds continue down the path Nightingale put them on.

"After his exploits in the Gold Cup, he is looking for a move to Europe or United States Major Soccer xaLeague. Thompson, who has played professionally in Britain and in Sweden, most recently had "a mutual parting of ways" with Pittsburgh Riverhounds in the United Soccer League (USL)."

I think this leaves Hulings as the only remaining goalie who was under contract with the Hounds from last season. Hopefully some goalie and defense signings happen sooner than later.

If the Hounds can get a Lisch/Arena type player out of this deal who will be in Pittsburgh for the majority of the season, that would be phenomenal.

Not sure if Lampson is still with the Crew, but this could bode well for him to get some steady playing time since Thompson and Brown both left this offseason.

My big worry is a clash of what the Crew coaches want versus what Steffens wants.

Welcome to the MASSIVE family! I'm a Burgh native and this makes me happy. I hope the partnership is mutually beneficial. Being close to Cbus I am certain some Crew fans will make the trip to support the Hounds as well. I know I will definitely make it back for a game or two.

Lampson's option was not excercised - so if he doesn't sign with another MLS team, he may be available to you. But our one loanee last year was Romain Gall. Not sure of Crew's plans for him this year, but you'd be getting a YNT player. Another option might be our Homegrown - Ben Swanson. He is finishing up high school so didn't go on loan, again he is a YNT player with huge accolades and upside.

I forget if I mentioned it here or not but I talked to Steffens at the holiday party earlier in the month and he mentioned they couldn't announce a lot of signings until January 1st for various reason. Now that we're close to the new year some player signings are starting to leak out.

    http://pittsburghsoccerreport.com/2...ppear-to-be-added-to-riverhounds-2016-roster/

James Bissue - 24 year old Ghanaian midfielder. Most recently with Montreal FC but didn't get playing time there.
Mauricio Vargas - 23 year old Costa Rican keeper. Recently with FC Wichita of the NPSL.

I'm most excited about the keeper. A big guy with a good record. Seems like he'll be a like for like replacement for Calle Brown. All that international experience is a plus too.

Would guess Campbell would be coming from Columbus. Would also guess Gall would be as well.

Arena and Hulings said on Twitter they won't be back. I was really hoping Arena would be back to help with the D being so thin. Hulings get's a shrug. It at least opens up a slot for a Columbus loaner.

Rivalry? Maybe not yet. But I know no Pittsburgh team ever wants to lose to a team from Cincinnati. They are certainly trying make a big deal out of it. And they are certainly showing Pittsburgh how to operate a USL franchise out of the gate. I hope this "rivalry" does blossom.

I am planning my first visit to Highmark to watch the Hounds. Will be in Pittsburgh weekend of June 18th and will be bringing a few of my kids to game vs. FC Montreal. I assume plenty of parking at Station Square? Is there a merch shop? I'd like to grab at least a scarf. Do supporters meet anywhere beforehand and march to match? Best tickets? Hoping to see Hollingsworth and hopefully Swanson play.

    Any guidance is appreciated.

Parking- There is one lot dedicated to the stadium on the west side. It runs under the bridge. $6 to park. If that fills up there's a bunch of other lots on the other side, and a garage. Don't know what the rates there are.

Merch- There is a team store inside the stadium next to the pub. They have a wide variety of things for sale. The Steel Army also sells merch at our tailgate.

Supporters- we tailgate in the west lot about halfway between the stadium and the bridge. Look for the flag pole. Tailgating stars around 4 and goes til 6:15ish. Sometimes we march sometimes we don't. Depends on the mood and weather that day.

Tickets- really can't go wrong with any seat. The main grand stand is assigned seating, and the supporters section is general admission. If you want to check out a unique view for part of the game head over to the standing room only path alone the river side. You're practically on the field over there.
