Ok, I know this U22 squad is a weakened one, it's not at full strength, but what a shame today. Knocked out 2-0 by Thailand. This is no fluke, the previous small win vs. Pakistan, and the loss vs. North Korea is not convincing. Things are not looking good for China national team's future. I remember 10 years ago China would have no problem thrashing S. E. Asian or weaker Arab teams. Now they can't even do this. Wonder how low they can sink to, how much more they can weaken.
China finished 2nd on superior goal difference in a friendly U-22 tournament featuring Australia, Brazil and South Korea. http://wildeastfootball.net/2014/11...to-brazil-at-the-end-of-four-team-tournament/
China is participating in this years edition of Toulon Tournament aswell. Their first game is later today against Morocco. The squad is very similar to the squad that played in Toulon last year, players born 93 or younger. http://www.toulontournament.com/china-2015/
Nope lol. We have struggled alot on the youth front in recent years so I can't say I'm surprised at the result. Although I missed the game, I doubt there's much positives to take from a 3-0 defeat.
Not the strongest squad we could've brought but still a really bad performance. China had almost no shots all game.
With Fu Bo at the helm I'm not surprised. His conservative playstyle really limits the offense, which is a shame because there's a couple of promising attack-minded players in that squad.
i watched the game more or less, offense was shit, until wei shihao came on late, he really tried to make some offensive accents. the defence were sometimes really confused and bad, the need more connection between themselves. Outstanding player was definitly the captain and gk yeerjeti. I missed some youngsters from the u19- ac, like zhang xiuwei.
Mexico winning 2-0 right now against China. China played well in the first half but have looked poor in the second half. Cao Haiqing is China's worst player in the tournament so far and Wei Shihao is China's best.
Wei got two unfortunate bookings and therefore a red. He's suspended for the next match against Ivory Coast. Honestly both yellows were soft (especially the first). Poor refereeing on those two incidents.
From both games so far, I've gathered two things: Fu Bo is tactically inept. He doesn't know what to do or what to change when the team is losing or playing badly. He calls up a weak squad when he could've called up other good youth players. He doesn't know how to organize the defense or invigorate the attack. Wei Shihao is definitely China's best youth prospect by a mile. He is the only one who looks like doing something offensively and is very impressive.
How has Wang Shangyuan been? Was playing regularly for Evergrande so you would think he would be a standout player in a U-22 tournament. Also anybody know why Xie Pengfei was not called up?

Strongest lineup possible: Du Jia Wang Tong - Shi Ke - Zhao Yuhao - Mi Haolun Liao Lisheng - Xu Xin - Li Yuanyi Xie Pengfei - Zhang Yuning - Liu Binbin
Oh dear, that is all China can muster up at the moment? I mean aside from Shi Ke and maybe Liu Binbin, the majority are fringe players in the CSL at best. Liao Lisheng didn't play at all this year because of major surgery, Wang Tong (lol) is vulnerable to "your stereotypical Chinese defender brain farts", and Xie Pengfei likely would have seen limited action had he been on a top team. It will be interesting to see how the two new Evergrande youngsters and that promising 19 year old Vitesse dude do, but this team will have a tough time making it past the group stage. There is a reason that no newcomer player of the year award was given out
apparantly in the forum, people said he is "ha zu", which loosely translate to kazakh too. whether uyghur or kazakh, i am glad he is having some playing time as goalkeeper in portugal.
i can't complain too much about the players, because CSL is hard for some young players to break into first team. our youth player selection isn't that good unfortunately. i would be happier if fu bo doesn't manage the team.
The team only plays in the third tier of the Portuguese league. But kudos to him, it's a different ballgame for a goalkeeper to go abroad, and he's started the majority of the matches for them this season it seems. And according to transfermarkt: 428501244110315520 is not a valid tweet id The team also has a player called Tang Shi, who has scored 8 goals this season.
Lol doesn't matter because the team is still getting wrecked. Basically same team that got embarrassed by Thailand at the Asian Games (facepalm) and got humiliated at the Toulon WYF this year.
