Why is hope important? Well, life is difficult. There are many obstacles. Having goals is not enough. One has to keep getting closer to those goals, amidst all the inevitable twists and turns of life. Hope allows people to approach problems with a mindset and strategy-set suitable to success, thereby increasing the chances they will actually accomplish their goals (Psychology Today). This is depressing to hear what happened to 1 of my favourite clubs.
While the Ling report was an embarrassment for the TH it shows more fundamental flaws in the club. The complete lack of professional organization shocked me. A first year business management student could probably implement a better structure. This is no way to run a company with a 100m Euro turnover, hell it's no way to run a small business or an amateur club. The scouting department doesn't work and is actively ignored according to Bergkamp. The head coach seems to run the technical side of things without any check and balances. Youth coaches don't follow a set of guidelines but just do their own thing. There is no stored institutional knowledge or an attempt to codify best practices. The board of directors supervises the clubs in the finest traditions of the financial sector. The lifeline of the club appears to be the youth scouting who are able to recruit the best talent both in the Amsterdam catchment area and on a national level.
Sorry for the delay in the player ratings but my wife and I went to the cinema right after the match today. Dijks was voted MOTM by the supporters who only came into the stands at the start of the 2nd half. They are in support of the Cruyff vision but I don't think this has any effect at all on the Ajax management. An easy victory against a very poor opponent. Despite the goals, Ajax were not very good on the ball with lots of passes that missed the mark and some poor defending that was never going to be punished. Maybe this type of training ground match is what the team needed to get a sense of confidence ahead of the Celtic match coming up on Thursday. Player Ratings: Cillessen (6) - had absolutely zero to do this evening as the ball was in the Cambuur half for great stretches of time Dijks (7.5) - really fine game on offense and he should be disappointed that Milik failed to put away the best cross of the evening Riedewald (6.5) - decent enough but he was at fault on the goal by hanging back Veltman (7.5) - nice goal and some good passes forward Tete (6.5) - a little sloppy at times on defense but maybe he knew he wouldn't get punished Gudelj (6) - nice free kicks but that was about all Klaassen (7) - a couple of good goals and some nice field play Serero (6) - evening cut short by yet another leg injury Younes (7.5) - some really nice moves to beat his man and create danger Milik (5.5) - good goal but off sides too often and really botched the cross from Dijks Fischer (5.5) - not much to write home about Schöne (6) - decent and a shame that he couldn't score Cerny (6) - nice he saw some action this evening, had a couple of good runs with the ball Heitinga (5) - still the favorite of the supporters in Amsterdam but woefully slow these days Off to Glasgow for the match that will decide whether Ajax still have a chance in Europe.
You just experienced the time warp. You unwittingly stepped through a wormhole and back. What you think was a minute back home on earth was half an hour. Collect your Nobel Prize for proving a theory of Einstein.
I think you mean Orange14, but yeah I had a fun night with a celebration in a cafe and when I thought hearing someone say Ajax lost to Cambuur 5-1 I took a few Leffe triples and Bok beers to celebrate, only to sober up immediately when I looked on the smartphone and discovered my ears had played a trick on me. I already planned an enormous bundle of flowers for my auntie in Leeuwarden. Sigh
The nice thing about Younes is that he can go to his left and his right; the bad thing is that he never tracks back on defense.
On the last goal, Younes should have passed the ball to Fischer on the second touch. Instead, he wen't for own glory to secure his position. This, i see very often. Where the attacking line is to selfish and doesn't play as a team.
