Thought I'd make a list of players that could have played for us but for various reasons didn't. They've all either been capped or called up in the past few years to the senior national. Anyway feel free to expand the list for players with a senior cap. Austria Marko Arnautović, Stoke City, Winger (Father from Bosnia) Zlatko Junuzović - Werder Bremen, AM (Born Loznica, BIH) Croatia Vedran Ćorluka - Lokmotiv Moscow, CB (born Derventa, BIH) Darijo Srna Shakhtar Donetsk, RB ( father from Gornji Stopići, BIH) Marin Leovac - PAOK, LB (born Jajce, BIH) Ivan Rakitić - Barcelona, CM (father from Žepče, BIH) Ivo Iličević - Hamburg, AM (Parents from Odžak, BIH) Tin Jedvaj - Bayer Leverkusen, CB (Father from Mostar, BIH) Mateo Kovačić - Real Madrid, CM (Parents from Kotor Varoš, BIH) Alen Halilović - Barcelona, AM (Father from Doboj, BIH) Mato Jajalo - Palermo, CM (Born Jajce, BIH) Mario Pašalić - Chelsea/AS Monaco, AM (Parents from Tomislavgrad, BIH) Nikica Jelavić - West Ham, ST (Born Čapljina, BIH) Serbia Nemanja Gudelj, Ajax, CM (Parents from Trebinje, BIH) Zdravko Kuzmanović, Basel, CM (Parents from Modriča, BIH) Neven Subotić, Borussia Dortmund, CB (Born Banja Luka, BIH) Slovenia Samir Handanovič, Inter Milan, GK (Parents from Bosnia) Miral Samardžić, Rijeka, CB (Parents from Cazin, BIH) Josip Iličić - Fiorentina, AM (Born Prijedor, BIH) Jasmin Kurtić, Atalanta, AM (Parents from Bosnia) Sweden Zlatan Ibrahimović - PSG, ST ( Father from Bijeljina, BIH) Branimir Hrgota - Borussia Mönchengladbach, ST (Born Zenica, BIH) Muamer Tanković - AZ Alkmaar, ST (Parents from Srebrenica, BIH) Switzerland Haris Seferović - Eintracht Frankfurt, ST (Parents from Sanski Most, BIH) Josip Drmić - Borussia Mönchengladbach, ST (Parents from Vitez, BIH)
You could add like 5 kids from Serb winning u-21 world cup team to this list. But wow this list makes me sad.
Pretty depressing. Quite funny how Croatia stole the most players but i always thought it was Serbia with the highest number.
Pretty sure even the Serbian players would try to get as far away as ********ing possible from the mess that is their team.
forgot armin bacinovic he was a prospect back when he played for palermo but has fallen off since then. i think he has bosnian ancestry
There was a guy on that Serbian U20, Mijat Gacinovic, team that played for Leotar and our U17 team and then switched to Serbian youth teams after transferring to Vojvodina in the Serbian league. He's at Frankfurt now. I think that's the kind of stuff we need to make an effort to avoid happening. It hurts losing some of the guys on this list but claiming Srna or Jedvaj seems a stretch. They were born in Croatia and seems like they only had one Bosnian-born parent. A large percentage of people in Croatia have roots in Bosnia but I don't see it as losing those players--it would be a gain if we got someone to play for us even though the connection to Bosnia seems small.
marko marin ? remember him ? yea zlatan was big loss im from bijeljina and so is all my a family . my father knew his father wayy back his whole family were trouble makers and fought alot. he had an uncle named satko ibrahimovic who was a boxer in bjeljina so you can say those genes are passed onto him.
