Starting this thread as a place for everyone to post and discuss news, articles and reviews regarding the club's finances and financial affairs. Football is a passion but also big business in today's world and Real Madrid is the biggest of them all. Earlier today, the management released the financial figures for 2014-15. Here is an article from the club website summarizing the key points. --- Real Madrid's revenue hits €660m for 2014-15. Up 9.4% on the previous year. Real Madrid C.F.'s Board of Directors, at a meeting earlier this evening, agreed to call an Ordinary General Assembly for 19th September 2015. The financial results relating to the 2014-2015 season that will be submitted for approval are as follows: Real Madrid closed out the 2014/15 fiscal year with the figure for total revenue standing at €660.6 million, a 9.4% increase on the previous fiscal year. This figure includes the capital gains obtained through the sale of players. These financial figures keep Real Madrid top of football's rich list for the eleventh year in a row. Los Blancos have also broken the €600m barrier for a second straight year. In 2013/14 they posted total revenue of €603.9m. Operating income, not taking the capital gains obtained through the sale of players into account, stood at €577.7 million, a 5.1% increase on the previous fiscal year. Earnings Before Interests, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization (EBITDA) rose to €203.4 million, an increase of 23.7% on the previous fiscal year, and this figure includes the income raised from the sale of players in the total revenue. Without taking these capital gains into account, the “recurring” EBITDA has increased to €135 million, which represents 23.4% of revenue and an increase of 8.4% from the previous fiscal year. Pre-tax profits have risen to €55.9 million, a 15.9% increase on the previous fiscal year. Net profit (after tax) has climbed to €42 million, a 9.1% increase on the previous fiscal year. Net equity grew by €41.6 million to reach a figure of €412.1 million. Net financial debt stands at €95.8 million, which represents 0.5 of the operating profit and loss (EBITDA) and 0.2 of the net equity. Read more: Link
Don't we already have a Real Madrid news thread that never gets used enough why do we need another non used thread?
Well, I felt a separate thread would be a good idea because the club's finances are an important topic. It would be nice to have a place where the info/discussion is centered around that even if it doesn't generate as many replies as the transfer threads or other teams thread. The club is always releasing financial info every now and then that gets glossed over in the news thread, since that one is more generic. Then there's things like sponsorship deals, debt levels, TV revenue, salaries, revenue/value rankings, etc, to post and talk about. This can also be a thread for new fans or other people to ask questions or discuss about past financial topics (e.g., the Valdebebas deal). Also, I'm hoping this develops into being a reference thread of sorts that all of us can refer to for financial info that has previously been posted without having to dig for it. If you guys and the mods think it will be redundant though, then I'm cool with using the news thread to post stuff to.
I found this on Marca That's the value of the players according to Transfermarket, some increased (Ronaldo from 100M to 120M), some decreased (Modric from 55M to 50M) and some stayed the same (Bale 80M). Temp means season, btw. Our squad is now valued at 716M. Here's the article in english: http://www.marca.com/en/2015/09/04/en/football/real_madrid/1441354112.html
That's admirable. It's very sad to see the plight of the refugees on the news. From the link Crimson posted: "Real Madrid has announced that it will donate one million euros to aid refugees that are taken in by Spain. Among these measures, the club is considering various initiatives and schemes with a special focus placed on the youngest refugees. It will also make some of the club's infrastructure and sports goods available to the Executive's interministerial commission that organises the system for receiving refugees."
This seems to be a trend right now among other European clubs.. Maybe football can do some good for once huh?
For once? You do realise that Real Madrid runs one of the largest charitable organisations in the world right?
OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT | 05/09/2015 Real Madrid has announced that it will donate one million euros to aid refugees that are taken in by Spain. Faithful to its commitment to charity, the club has taken this decision with the aim of supporting men, women and children who have been forced to leave their homes in order to flee from war and death. The president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, spoke yesterday by phone with the president of the Government, Mariano Rajoy. The pair talked about this contribution and other measures that the club will put in place in order to collaborate with the care of refugees that arrive in Spain. Among these measures, the club is considering various initiatives and schemes with a special focus placed on the youngest refugees. It will also make some of the club's infrastructure and sports goods available to the Executive's interministerial commission that organises the system for receiving refugees. Great decision. I hope that another sports clubs in the world follow the example of Real Madrid.
Between the corruption, greed, violence, racism, etc that has dominated football for all these years.. It's nice to hear stories about the good things that clubs can do.., that's all
That's a brilliant idea.. Heck why not go even further Make it every game of the cl games, how many games is that in total?
Kurds are an ethnicity, the vast majority of whom are muslim. While Kurds have been in the spotlight after being displaced from Kobani, there are many other ethnicities that are suffering the same fate. For example a year ago, a small town in Iraq (Amirli) with a population of no more than 26000 was under siege by Isis for months with no supply of food, water, or weapons. Many died in the battles and even elderly women held weapons to fight until they were freed. The NY times also ran a great piece on what these savages were doing to Yazidi women; raping them and trading them off. This has nothing to do with what religion they are or where they are from. The root cause of this whole issue is down to a political scheme that has been funded by some of the countries in the surrounding region. Definitely not the thread to discuss this but like any humanitarian crisis, the people in power are benefiting at the expense of the lives of the weak and the helpless.
Unfortunately, not much. Majority of Muslim countries are actually not very well off, contrary to what most people's perception is. Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, and Iraq have taken in millions of refugees, and some, such as Egypt, actually don't have them in refugee camps but are freely amongst the locals. The Gulf countries, the ones who are very well off, are not doing much though. They have strict entrance visa laws, and they are not part of any refugee agreements in the international community. Hopefully that changes as they are under lots of pressure from their citizens nowadays. Western countries are both richer and safer than middle eastern countries so obviously most refugees would rather head there.
