1) Yes it does normally but by putting it in the US, is actual allows other nations more support than they would get normally too. To move the GC and give more teams a chance to get home field advantage is a nice idea in theory, I won't disagree there. 2) Glad we can agree 3) Ok so it is a misinterpretation on both our parts. Glad we can clear that up. I don't know if they will, your right know one knows for a fact. However things are decided in business on projections, so if CCAF did nothing different marketing wise and just tried the to host in Mexico, the would make less money. Adjustments have to be made, for instance, the peso is 0.061 to 1 dollar, so 80 dollar seats for an game would be about 1303 pesos. CCAF can't charge that for a game, it has to be brought down to an affordable value for the average Mexican fan, that means that an 80 dollar US seat is worth 40 dollars because they are charging 500 for instance. So gates go down but the cost of having a crew to shot and etc stay the same since travel and lodging is in USD. Mexico has all the technological stuff to show a match which is good but would be a problem in other CCAF countries.
1) Yes but like everyone already said. The Cup cant be held in the US forever, and expect anyone to take it seriously. The amount of different national demographics in a certain country over the other should never be a factor when moving a cup. Just like it isnt anywhere else in the world. 2)Yes 3)Yes, we all know that. Yes, it would, but no one is asking the cup to be held in every country. Obviously the Countries most structurally and financially viable would be considered first, or maybe a joint effort could be made too, like in Asia. I also think that some people underestimate Central American countries. CA is more than capable of hosting a GC jointly. Its not like all CA is dirt poor, and they have a massive amount of futbol fanatics that would attend the games. All countries have their local leagues and stadia. They are a short flight away from Mexico. Americans and Canadians have the money to fly and stay down there. Not to mention the fact that CA isnt too big, so all countries (central American) are a bus ride away. Which could mean that most games would probably have a decent turnout. The only area that would struggle to Host is perhaps the Caribbean? Im not 100% on their futbol culture or their economics.
To summarize: having the same host everytime for purely financial reasons is unfair and unethical and there is zero evidence that the GC profits are a significant source of income for the individual federations. Not to mention it makes the whole thing look hopelessly mickey mousey.
I actually think Costa Rica would be an interesting choice as host. I know people who love it as a travel destination. The question is stadiums of course. Of the points ICBR brought up something dawned on me. Marketing CCAF events beyond CCAF areas is harder because our players don't leave the area as much and play for top clubs in Europe. The Aputura (sp?) is a quality league and Mexican players don't need to leave home to become stars that makes it harder to market. I mean that CAF has Africans in North America, Europe and of course the African Continent to have tune in. Their players end up at European clubs or MLS teams so it is a tournament to watch a potential player for your team. CCAF doesn't have that so that is an obstacle. Though Asia has somewhat of the same problem but manage to work around it so its not impossible.
I don't think Apertura is a league name. Several countries including Mexico have two seasons per year, with one called the Apertura and one called the Clausura.
the Mexican League is called "Liga MX", and it plays two "seasons" a year, more or less in line with the most common world football calendar that runs from about August to about May. The LIGA MX Apertura (opening) runs from late July to December and the Clausura (closing) goes from January to May. There is also an 8-team playoff after each. They just started the 2015 Apertura last weekend. It's sort of odd that the 2015 Clausura happens before the 2015 Apertura, but that's how it is because of alignment with the football calendar. I think you're right that interest in CONCACAF beyond the region is limited by the fact that there aren't very many players from the national teams that are stars in the popular European Leagues which are followed all over the world. Sure there's a bunch of them playing here and there, but they tend to not be the big stars and tend to not be on the big UEFA Champions League type teams. I think Asia have the same problem, as their tournaments aren't that popular outside of Asia. Plus, like CONCACAF, AFC isn't that deep with strong national teams. CAF has a lot of players who are stars on big teams, plus the Africa Cup of Nations features some really good and exciting football. Much better than some of the slop (especially the early games) we saw in this past Gold Cup. So marketing CONCACAF and the Gold Cup outside of the region is really tough, and I don't think that's a focus or goal right now. The focus instead should be on making it as as good a competition as possible, and increase popularity and interest within the region. Supporting improvement with teams other than the US and Mexico is one thing that will help. And I think allowing the Gold Cup to be staged somewhere other than the US year after year after year is another way. Some decent refereeing wouldn't hurt either.
I've pushed the idea before on my blog but a co-host between Costa Rica and Panama would be ideal. One group at Rommel Fernandez, one group at the Estadio Saprissa, one group at Costa Rica's new national stadium (which would likely host the final as well).

On p. 127 of the tournament's technical report, it's apparently recommended that extra time be discontinued for all games except the final, aping the same policy in the last Copa América. I'm personally against it (I love penalties, but believe that the teams should have another shot at deciding the game in open play rather than straight to the spot), but do see where it makes sense for a biennial competition.
Has an AET not been the golden goal in any major tournament in the last 5 years? They even did away with silver goal! Straight to PKS means the next round of matches are even.
I am all against extra-time. If 90 minutes time isn't enough to get a winner, penalties should commence immediately after FT. Additional 30 mins is in most cases waste of time (and boring too) with players thinking only about penalties.
