Carbonero scored another golazo against Atalanta today that gave Cesena a 2-1 lead.

Atalanta would eventually tie the game 2-2.

I've only seen him play once this season. He was playing more as center mid. He didn't play bad. He just committed a lot of fouls.

As games have passed he's played more a CAM role. According to whoscored.com the past three matches prior to he's played at right mid. The first two games out of that bunch he had 3 key passes and 2 key passes respectively.

I just think it's matter of playing the position that's most comfortable to him which is right mid. Although he is very polyfunctional.

Hopefully he keeps this up. IDK whether he's ready for Roma yet, but he's definitely ready to get loaned to an upper mid table club like Fiorentina.

haha dude had 3-4 good games for one of the worst team in the leagues. Before that he was awful fine he was played out of position and it takes time to adapt but come on saying he can go to Fiorentina now :) .... kind of wishful thinking.

He needs to be loaned to another recently promoted team where he can start. At Fio he will just eat bench

    How is that wishful thinking?

Carlos Carbonero has only played 1130 minutes this season in a Serie A bottom feeder. He has 3 goals and 2 assists in that time.

While comparatively speaking in Fiorentina, Joaquin has 2 goals and 3 assists in 1358 minutes in Serie A. Matias Fernandez has 2 goals and 4 assists in 1746 minutes in Serie A.

Carbonero has been just as productive in his first season than these two veteran players. The only player on Fiorentina who has out produced Carbonero is Salah.

We had this conversation at the end of last year if we can go back a couple pages in this thread.

I think his best position is right attacking midfield. Even though he has been experimented with at CM by both Pekerman and his club team, I still believe he is best at right attacking mid.
It was his best position at Caldas and at River.
And now that Cuadrado's form is dipping a bit that opens a bigger door for him and for Cardona to prove their worth on the field.

Carbonero is a crack and i'm pleased to see he's playing well even if they are going down.

Its clear he takes a long time to adapt though. When he got to Argentina, he was shit at estudiantes, then was a beast at Arsenal. At River, his first semester was absolutely pathetic. His second, he was arguably our best player when we won the title. It looks like the same thing is happening in Serie A. I wonder where he'll end up.

In Italy I believe the transition would have been helped if he would have been initially placed at attacking midfield (his natural position).

Same thing happened to Cuadrado at Udinese. They put him at Defensive midfield and he just could not get going there. Then he went to Lecce as an attacking right winger and BAM problem solved.

Well at River under Ramon he really improved his defensive game, something he never had to do at arsenal. Maybe the coaches at Cessena hoped to take advantage of it... Dumb I know, but there were a few games (Newell's and Olimpo spring to mind) at River where his defensive work was absolutely impeccable at River. He played as a double 5 sometimes even

If he maintains good form , I can see him rotate with Cuadrado in that position , or even play as a CM if needed .
