Nah, this is on Dunga. This team sucked the entire match and lacked energy When will Brazil be good again?
Ugh the nightmare never ends. We deserved to lose. We were playing terrible after Robinho scored. Then when Paraguay scored then we decided to attack. Our defensive midfield was none existent throughout the match. Dunga was frustrating and showed no tactical flexibility. Now i wonder what Dunga will do for the WCQ because we are not ready.
Our only hope is the u20 team but how long until some eastern european team picks them up and they disappear of the face of the earth.
I'm sure you'll be back to your usual self by the next World Cup. Dunga is not the man for you guys. He hasn't impressed me whatsoever this time around with any of his decisions. And do you guys have a better keeper than Jefferson? He is not bad or anything, but he is a little shaky at times, particularly this game, and I felt a little uneasy watching him.
Diego Alves, maybe. Doesn't matter. This generation sucks and doesn't even look like they'll beat teams we're used to watching. They could realistically miss the next WC with only 4 spots up for grabs.
I'm sorry, but was it just me or did T. Silva had a horrored look praying that he wont be picked for the shootout!!
Thiago, Dunga and Neymar will be vilified and deservedly so. Every part of the team is unreliable. Goalkeeping = Shaky Defense = Inconsistent Midfield = Thrash Attack = Poor
Vieri is correct, this generation is too average to carry the selecao legacy. Even though their better than Paraguay, average players will crack under the pressure of wearing the yellow shirt.
While Thiago Silva holds a lot of the blame and I'm ****ing pissed at him, we can't blame him alone. We were useless in attack, couldn't retrieve balls in the midfield, we played really badly overall. My CA final observations: Jefferson: I can't blame him for anything, though I don't feel safe with him there. I hope Diego Alves gets the number 1 shirt as soon as possible. Daniel Alves: Should've been tried in midfield. He was the only one to consistently complete his passes, but we know really well how bad he is in the back. Could be a good sub I guess, but Danilo is the starter, no doubt. Thiago Silva: Terrible, just plain terrible. I would still call him, but for me he is the 4th choice as a CB. Miranda: I think he is one of the only ones to get a positive review from me. He is solid. Filipe Luiz: Better use Marcelo who is better at supporting, both suck at defending. Fernandinho: Definitely not a DMF, he doesn't know how to tackle and commits too many fouls. He offers nothing of worth. Luiz Gustavo was sorely missed. Elias: I think he could be a reserve, but certainly not starter material. He didn't use one of his specialties, which is to charge in then box undetected and his passing isn't good enough... CMF is one of our worst positions, no doubt. I think I would call Hernanes again. Coutinho: one of my biggest disappointments. I expected much better from him, but he certainly isn't the creative midfielder I thought he was. We missed Oscar REALLY BADLY. Neymar: Though his first two yellow cards were unfair, if he only accepted them properly he would only miss the game versus Venezuela. Now he will also miss two games from WCQ... Unforgivable for the main star and "captain" of the team. My biggest disappointment. Willian: He played well most of the time. Better than I thought, no doubt. I wonder if he can work as a AMF? I'd still prefer Lucas Moura in the right though. Firmino: my second greatest disappointment. He left such a great impression in the friendlies, I thought we had sorted our number 9 (or in his case, 11) issue. He let us down way too much... I won't give up on him yet, but the search for a proper CF is still on, sadly. ReTardelli: Headless Chicken, useless. I hope he never wears our shirt again. Everton Ribeiro: **** you, seriously. Rot and die in obscurity you wasteman. Robinho: Left a positive impression, thought due to his age I can't see him in our future. Did his job when needed, that is more than most of our team did. Douglas Costa: though he missed his penalty, I think overall he wasn't that bad... But he certainly doesn't deserve a spot over Willian and Lucas. Casemiro: I wish he was tried at least. He couldn't do much worse than Fernandinho, now could he? David Luiz: Commits mistakes, but TS does that as well. At least he has heart. Marquinhos: Well it was good for him to get some experience, but I wish he played more. I want to see him tested at Miranda's side, or even at RB and Alves as a midfielder like we saw versus Venezuela... One for the future, certainly. Neto: - Fred: I hope you get a transfer. We sacrificed a valuable spot in our roster for that... If he wears our shirt again I give up. Freds are banned! Dunga: Has a very definite style and nothing more, no variety, no creativity, nothing... And this style is dull and boring, when we win it's acceptable but otherwise it makes you feel disgusted and makes us look worse than we really are. Micale, please save us!
The only positive I can see with us going out is no chance to play in the confederation cup. It just leads to false promises and have coaches making dumb decisions on tactics and team selection the following year.
Also, for those that complain about team selection. This is why our coaches make the "supposed" dumb decisions they do. Remember, how some wanted Coutinho and Firmino and how creative they, well they were the two biggest flops on the team and highlight the importance of Oscar to this team. We give the talents the chance and they do nothing with it.
It's worse than that because there doesn't seem to be better players. Even the "C team" from 2004 had more promise than this group. Most of these players would play in a WCQ.
Don't get me wrong, these guys have talent and maybe we have to wait till they hit their prime cause they are 21-23 years of age. Maybe, it's a coaching issue and Dunga is incapable of getting the best out of some of the players but just insert them didn't solve Brazil issue s like some believe they would.
Dunga still gives the selecao the best chance to win the next World Cup as crazy as it sounds. Although even if they won today , it still isn't fun to watch the selecao play anymore. Hard to get excited for matches when you have to watch dungaball even if it does get results. Firmino and Willian were pathetic this tourney btw, some people need to eat some crow in regards to them.
I'll be excited to see Oscar back. Guess I learned my lesson for bashing him so much after his wc comments.
I agree. William was poor today and Firmino was poor the last 3 games. Having said that, Willian was probably the "best" performer in the midfield, which basically explains the sad state of the midfield. He's a good squad player. He's a nice piece to have when you have other quality pieces that he can combine with. You can't rely on him when no one else is doing jack. He's was pretty good for Chelsea, but they have quality players he can work of off. He's not good enough to do the "heavy lifting." I think the Firmino #9 experiment is basically a failure. Once again, people put too much stock in friendlies. I'd give him chances in the midfield. We will see how he does at Liverpool. You should also call out Coutinho. He barely flashed during this tournament. He had the opportunity to work in the hole and failed. As far as Dunga and results go, things need to improve for me to agree. I will say there aren't any guaranteed better options. Just my personal preference, I'd like to see Tite because I know he wil mix things up when something isn't working, unlike Dunga. I'm almost at the point where I'd entertain Mano returning, as long as he's hands off on the Olympics.
I think Firmino would probably be better behind a striker or in midfield. I'll wait to see how he does at Liverpool though. The false 9 experiment should end now, either Neymar plays that role or none at all. Willian was one of Brazil better players in this tournament but he just too passive sometimes. He plays safe and there isn't anything wrong with that but I would like to see him try to shoot or take players on. He plays more like a CM than a winger. I seriously consider converting him. Also, hopefully this is the last of the likes of Fernandinho and Elias for the NT. Fred, Tardelli and Riberio as well.
Pretty bad that you would even consider Mano but this is tough to watch. I watched the first half of friendlies but couldn't venture further most times because it's so tough to watch. I've at least seen Mano make big in game system changes and subs but yea Dungas predictable , heavy dose of like for like changes. Maybe it's wishful thinking but I'd trust dunga against a Germany or Argentina more in a wc knockout rd scenario even though I rate Mano and tite higher. What has me wavering on dunga is that he pretty much had Paraguay on lockdown today, defending comfortably, catching Paraguay in giveaways with numbers forward , yet there was no threat of a counter attack... Elias also showed up for the first time this tourney and yet no threat of a counter attack. I felt like there were a lot of oppurtunities to as well, I just don't know how much I can blame dunga for Willian and firmino today. I saw no good runs or Movement, can't recall more than 5 firmino touches. Coutinho has disappointed me too, but I at least have seen him trying to help build possession. Alves made a lot of good runs to and yet was mostly ignored, coutinho was guilty twice. I'm 50/50 on dunga staying but i just hate this style. It makes serie b look like Barcelona after watching Dungas selecao.
You could make an argument that if Thiago wasn't an idiot we win this game as we held Paraguay in check. It was weird how awful our counter attacks was considering that a Dunga speciality
