O próprio Dunga admitiu q fez as trocas para se defender. Perguntaram se valia pela experiência. Respondeu que foi para este jogo. Resultado— André Rocha (@anunesrocha) June 21, 2015 @celito
Chile has the table drawn to favor them. It was carefully designed to avoid Brazil and Argentina until the final. Their iffy ref took Neymar out of the tournament. So yeah, they are definitely the team to beat. I'd call them the favorites at this point, not Argentina. If Argentina plays the semi and a Chilean ref officiates, I'm sure he'll find a way to card Messi out of the final. That's the problem with South American tournaments - corruption and bias are the rule rather than the exception. So, the cards are stacked in favor of Chile.
Are you honestly trolling? Yesterday you hinted towards a conspiracy due to Neymar being too talented, the reason for the suspension was conembol banding together to screw the one country that speaks a different language, and then finished with saying brazil has no shot. This has to be trolling. Chile had 3 rightful goals called offside so far.
I think Chile loses to Uruguay. Best bet for them is hope they keep the set-pieces count low. Also, Uruguay has eliminated the last 2 host of the Copa America.
Nah, not trolling. I actually haven't watched Chile that much. If they had three rightful goals called offside then this reassures me. About Neymar, I reacted angrily at first but if you follow my posts I progressively came to consider that the punishment was appropriate. I went on a post giving the CONMEBOL the benefit of the doubt, to finally saying that after cooling off and thinking about it, they were right in punishing him (my latest post on the issue, saying that you don't go after a ref like he did, regardless of how bad the ref is). So, not trolling, just a case of passion clouding my judgment. Oh, and that wasn't yesterday, it was midweek when it happened, then I progressively changed my mind. The way the table was designed has attracted the attention of the press - not blogs, but an article on Terra.com.br. Not having seen Chile that much, I was assuming they might be favoring them in other ways. If they aren't, good. Now, regarding Brazil's chances, the way we were playing, I wasn't optimistic. Today I got more optimistic, still, didn't call us favorites, just in contention. How is that trolling? Even objectively speaking, we *are* in contention. Besides, I'd be trolling if I were saying these things in the Chilean board. I'm saying them here, among Brazilians.
Could happen. Most games have been extremely tight. But I still think Chile wins. Uruguay has very little offense. Off a corner they could score as you say.
Disappoint game for Coutinho, better than Fred but it's not saying much. This was his chance to shine without Oscar here and he hasn't. Better 2nd half for Firmino at least, hopefully that gives him confidence. I also didn't like Felipe Luis in this game on both sides of the ball and Jefferson distribution. Everyone else was solid IMO. Best performers were Robinho, Willian and Alves.
I'm not as confident of that as you are - it looked to me like a manager trying to close up shop. But then, since my Portuguese is limited to "I don't seek Portuguese", I'm always at a loss since I can't read what local media say. With Spanish I can at least do that, even if it takes me longer than I'd prefer.
I'm worried too. Dunga should be using formations he tried out in practice to hold onto the ball. And with David Luiz you would think he had some time to practice that. But this team looks more like 2014 as far as preparedness when things don't go their way than 2007-2009 and that worries me. Not that Dunga has a ton of backup options back then, but he had found a few that were smarter than adding n defenders.
He could have swapped out Elias for Casemiro and add fresh legs on the flanks to track back. It would have been one thing to bring in Marquinhos and push up Alves. He also brought on DL. It really looks like Dunga doesn't rate Fabinho....
I though Casemiro was going to come on. I didn't mind the David Luiz in midfield. Marquinhos for Robinho was ridiculous.
The most negative side versus the most positive side who's also at home. Nobody wants to see Uruguay win this. Hopefully, no controversy.
David Luiz looked lost in the holding midfielder role, but was def more assured in his tackles than Fernandiho but not sure dunga would use it again.
Tbh I reckon Alves on midfield isn't such a bad idea. HE certainly is better than Fred and unfortunately Coutinho isn't living up to expectations... With Marquinhos behind him, there is no Avenida Alves and he can devote himself to supporting...I guess. Something like this, maybe? ---------------------Jefferson Marquinhos----TS----------Miranda----FL -----------------Elias------------DL --------Alves-----------------------Coutinho ---------------Firmino-------Robinho I doubt it would ever become our plan A since it would risk using all of our defenders at once, but I can see it being a backup plan. Just speculation of course.
Also seems that everyone in the midfield is afraid to take shots from outside the box. I know Alves takes some.
You and everybody else should go to the CONMEBOL forum and read a thread I just created about corruption in CONMEBOL. It involves a now-deceased federation president and club competitions. It won't surprise any of you.
Yep, but apparently if I say anything about that, it's considered that I'm trolling, go figure! PS - I couldn't find that thread. Only saw one that you created in April, if you're saying you just created it, it can't be that one. Would you please post a link to the thread you're mentioning?
Breaking news: CBF gives up and won't appeal Neymar's punishment. He will leave Chile today. http://www.mg.superesportes.com.br/...vera-e-neymar-esta-fora-da-copa-america.shtml They figured they wouldn't succeed anyway:
Here. This is a Copa América thread, so I'll say no more about this than the following. Corinthians is already looking into the allegations and I hope they go as far as they can. Carlos Amarilla has already openly stated there was no bribe and that he and other referees may make mistakes. But the refereeing was grotesque, and I as a SPFC fan have no love lost for Corinthians (which many of you saw here when Corinthians lost to my SPFC and then was eliminated from this year's Libertadores). But this harms not only Corinthians, it can harm any Brazilian team, and it's unsportsmanlike. Even Argentine fans from other teams blasted Boca Juniors for getting to that year's quarterfinals through that awful refereeing. Here's a quote I found after Newell's Old Boys ousted Boca: ... ustedes llegaron hasta acá porque el arbitraje contra Corinthians en Brasil fue bochornoso, y lo sabés This is why I celebrated Newell's elimination of Boca that year. It was justice. Corinthians, while an archrival of mine, was eliminated through horrendous refereeing. Boca didn't deserve to be in the quarterfinals. Before the 10th minute mark, a Boca player blocked the ball w/ his hand in the area when Emerson advanced. No PK was called, and and Emerson got a yellow card from Amarilla for complaining. Had the PK been called, Corinthians might have evened the series very early in the first half and then, who knows? I say get everything out and expose any corruption. It'll show once and for all how much maracutaia and roubalheira exists in CONMEBOL competitions.
EDIT - This post and Century's Best overlapped - interesting that I just found another article about it. It's not entirely off-topic since officiating influences not only Copa Libertadores but also Copa America, and we were discussing the Chilean ref in Brazil vs. Colombia. You didn't reply to my reply to your question if I was trolling. Interesting enough, there is this article about how CONMEBOL selects referees... Not a conspiracy theory: http://esportes.terra.com.br/corint...36c485db5d8fd243de6e88b88d17d38c7ibjRCRD.html
Now even Neymar himself acknowledges that he was wrong, so, that's that. I think it puts an end to this controversy. The punishment was deserved, after all. Good for him that he is using this as an opportunity to grow.
