Pretty sure Fred was benched for Douglas Costa in the training sessions leading up.

You guys should play Marqui in RB for good luck. He's the PSG player (in literally our entire history) to go the longest on an undefeated streak of 34 games in all competitions. ;)

Who is going to be the captain?

Well that's sort of a relief!! Remember even though it was a friendly years ago we lost our 1st game to Venezuela under Dunga!!

Most likely T. Silva gets the armband back, unless Dunga does something crazy and give it to D. Alves!!!:cautious:

Well to be honest we should beat Venezuela but you neve rknow. Venezuela beat Colombia and had oppurtunities to tie with Peru. So it wont be easy as expected.

Haha, just curious, why do you guys dislike him so much? The comments about him around here are really funny (not as funny as the Judas references though)

It's not that we dislike him, it's just his blind and somtimes thoughtless attacks up front leaves our defense badly exposed!! Danilo though 8 years younger is more mature in that right back spot for us!!

That's why we all shead tears when he got hurt!! But as much as we criticize D. Alves we will never put him in the same sentence as Judas Costa!!!

Mainly my fault. I don't know if everyone dislikes him as I know a few fans of his in here. Everyone just knows he irritates the living daylight of me (be happy PSG didn't sign him ;)).

I think most people are over the Judas decision. It's just a running joke to call him Judas. I do, however, wish him the worst on the Spanish NT. There actually was a bigger Judas "hater" around here, but he disappeared @leonidas

Oh, I am happy. I'm sure we would have had to pay astronomical wages for 32 year old who is past his prime (obviously he's still a very good player though).

What a coincidence about Costa. I also wish him the worst because he really is the worst. ;)

Sadly, Judas would have been a perfect fit for us. We are missing someone who does everything he does -- good and bad.

Dunga gave Venezuela its first victory over us if I'm correct and we struggled to beat them away.

Robinho and Coutinho over Neymar and Fred. Sounds good, I guess. At least Fred is out.

Colombia 0-0 Peru, a result that eliminates Ecuador. Now it's guaranteed that the other two groups will have a third placed team with 4 points.

Not a good result for us, since this game having a winner by 2 goals, would allow us to qualify even if we lost to Venezuela by 1 goal. Now, if we lose to Venezuela, we are out.

Now it's simple - if we tie or win, we're in the round of 8. If we lose, we are out. Regardless of scores. So, all the complex combinations of scores I had posted before (in the Brazil vs. Colombia thread) are irrelevant.

You are right about that. On the other hand Dunga as coach at one point did command a victory over Venezuela by 4-0, at home, after that loss in a friendly and the trouble in the away game.

We have to play to win. A draw is too risky to play for.

Here is the interesting thing: if we tie Venezuela 1-1, or any higher score (2-2, etc.) we win the group on goals scored, and Colombia gets eliminated with only one goal scored!!!
    Let's all root for 1-1!!!

If we win the game, we send Colombia to the quarter-finals.

Somehow now I prefer a tie as long as it's by 1-1 or higher, LOL.

Peru has advanced, since they can't be below Colombia, with their 2 goals scored versus 1 by Colombia.

The other two spots are between Brazil, Colombia, and Venezuela.

A 0-0 sends Brazil and Peru to the quarter-finals, and Colombia and Venezuela will need to decide the other spot by a coin flip.

1-1 or higher tie, sends Brazil, Peru, and Venezuela to the quarter-finals.

A Brazilian victory sends Brazil, Peru, and Colombia to the quarter-finals.

A Venezuelan victory sends Venezuela, Peru, and Colombia to the quarter-finals.

And I'm playing devil's advocate! this is why all last first round games should be played simultaneously!! because if we wanted to be wicked we would play Venezuela to a draw on purpose just to knock out Colombia and avenge Neymar!

LOL, if I had a say, and we were winning the game 1-0 by the 90th minute, plus 2 minutes of stoppage time and there was just a minute left (so that they wouldn't have the time to actually win), I'd let Venezuela score the tying goal and send Colombia packing!
