Meanwhile Mexico's B team is crashing out of Copa América. I think it's a disgrace. If they don't respect the tournament and send a B team, why in the hell is CONMEBOL inviting them? Sure, I understand that it's done for TV viewership in Mexico, but it's a disgrace. Sure, Mexico should prioritize the Gold Cup which gives access to the Confederations Cup, but maybe the best preparation for the Gold Cup would be to send their A team to Copa América. The dates don't overlap. The Copa América final happens three days before the start of the Gold Cup. So, why not send the A team? I understand that clubs are not forced to release Mexican players for the Copa América, but must do it for the Gold Cup. Still, Mexico should have sent the strongest possible team, not a clearly B team.
I am an Argentina fan, and I think it is a garbage decision to give Neymar 4 games. Maximum should have been 2 games. I enjoy seeing him play.
******** Conmebol. Lets win this shitty tournament 2004 style and rub it in their faces. This team needs to start playing like a team anyway.
That's all on Chile the country or Chile the national team? Because if the latter, the coach has already said he won't punish Vidal. The country might arrest him for DWI, and keep him in jail, but I'm sure this is out already (he was initially arrested but I never heard anything else mentioning arrest so most likely he's been released on bail or just with a court date or something).
Well, folks, the last time we lost Neymar, there was a lot of talk about the team rallying together and overcoming his absence, and we all know how *that* worked out. 7-1, 3-0. So, I'm not optimistic at all. We should be able to at least draw against Venezuela and advance, but then... we'll probably be bumped out in quarter final.
As far as his participation goes, yes, the national team. I know he got nothing from them, but CONMEBOL is powerless in his case.
Yes, this is none of CONMEBOL's business and would definitely be overreaching. After all, they do have more integrity than, say for instance, the US government.
Wow, is Neymar seriously suspended for four games? How are you guys so calm about this? If the same situation had happened for France, I would be complaining non stop. No but seriously, this is extremely unfair. As a neutral, this seems a little shady to me. What he did was wrong, but the punishment is way too severe.
4 game ban for Neymar is excessive!! Sad thing is that I predicted that we would go out in the quarterfinals WITH Neymar!! The only other person who is happy than a fly on shit is ....Luis Enrique of Barcelona!! He'll have Dracula and Neymar rested for the opening season!!
Is there a way for you guys to appeal and get it reduced? It's kinda strange that facing Colombia seems to cut his major tournaments short one way or another.
That's strange. The image I saw, Neymar goes into the tunnel before the ref comes after him showing the red. Anyway, when he got the yellow card he already harshly pulled the ref's shoulder backward. You can't touch the ref. He could have acquired a red then and there. Neymar was extremely dumb and infantile with his actions. Still, 4 games is excessive and done out of hatred and spite.
That's unfortunate, it ruins the tournament for Brazil and neutrals who wanted to enjoy the spectacle. Not that exciting players shouldn't be punished, but they should be punished just as severely as any random player and I can guarantee some random player would have gotten 2 games max
Here, in Portuguese, the details about the appeal: So, a guy from Uruguay and a guy from Bolívia screwed Neymar. Now all the hope rests with a guy from Ecuador. Ecuador's only possibility of advancing is if Brazil is pretty troubled and loses to Venezuela by 2 goals, so, we shouldn't expect leniency from this guy.
Well yeah, but at least we still have Sanchez, Aguero, Cuadrado, Cavani, James although it's true that compared to the two missing none of them can provide quite the same level of scuba action.
Where the hell was the other players to pull Neymar away from this situation if he going after a ref? At Barca, when Neymar gets into something, Xavi or Iniesta was there to walk him away from the incident.
Much, much worse, where was Dunga? First of all, if he hadn't made of Neymar the captain, maybe a more senior captain would have done for Neymar what Xavi and Iniesta do. Second, the coach is ultimately responsible for it. It's not like Neymar only got in trouble at the end. He was being troublesome the entire game. Dunga should have pulled him apart and said, "Neymar, cut the crap or else. You are not above the law. You are wearing the prestigious yellow shirt of the Brazilian National Team, with the Captain band no less, and you better respect that shirt and your position as captain or else. This is serious business, we are playing an official tournament, trying to recover from the disaster of the WC. Stop jeopardizing the whole thing or I'll ban you from this team. I'm the coach and you must follow my orders: Cut. The. Crap."
Also I see Neymar being stripped of captaincy!! Besides D. Luiz, I wouldn't mind seeing Oscar as captain when he returns!!
