For those of you who say you have little interest in rooting for the USA, consider the fact that Alejandro Bedoya's Father is Colombian and Juan Agudelo was Born in Colombia. Surely you can root for the USA in tournaments Colombia is not participating in like the Copa Oro right?

Just a something to think about. :D

In 2002 2006 and 2010 Colombia wasnt in the world cup so it made sense for me to cheer for the US, yet I found myself cheering for Conmebol teams... I want them to do good though

So it is safe to say, even those that are born in this country, with latino background almost always roots for thier background country? I understand and I get it because I was one as well, there is a swag that other countries that been playing soccer longer than the US have. The US doesnt have that yet, I believe that Is why most ppl dont root for the US even being born here or living here for plus amount of years. It makes sense, US soccer has evolved long ways and we havent reached the top yet, where we know who we are.

Colombia for me has this swag, that no one can take from them, and it feels good to wear the jersey, jump in celebration when they score, scream "gol ihueputa" when they score on Argentina or a tough foe. Im afraid the US doesnt have it yet or wont get that anytime soon, its getting there but it takes time.

I for one, decided to go for the US after colombia failed to make it to the world cup for so long, plus i was born and raised here in the US, Miami out of all the places, which is the latino capital of the world. Here you have many US born people (some second generation) who reject the country that gave them everything, friends, education, lifestyle, etc., and to me thats un falta de respeto, they should be cheering on the US, but like I said the swag is missing. I must admit though, as time has gone by and soccer gets more popular every world cup, the US fans are staring to show up down here.

I'll never forget all those WCQ nights every year in 'el Abuelo Gozon' in Jackson Heights back in the day..... That freaking siren they had was too funny. That too was what it feels like to root like a Colombian. It was a constant party. Until we lost...but still plenty of jokesters. They would eventually clear the tables and put Salsa on right away to get people dancing...hehe ... nothing like that even close at a place like Nevada Smith's.

I remember my dad told me he was working at some night club in queens plaza called 30-30 when the Colombia Argentina game was playing in the wqc 1994 told me he had extra tickets and sold tickets on the low for 30 a piece out side the club. All the Colombians went nuts that day . Also Idk if you were in Jackson heights the day we won the CA boy oh boy was that a crazy day .

OMG 30-30..That place was "Little Colombia" for NYC. It was the "it" place to be if you were Colombian. Plenty of Colombian 'talent'.

Lol I got 3 kids. My boy is half black half Colombian and he lives with me and my Puerto Rican wife. My 2 daughters are half Puerto Rican and live with their mom (ex wife).

But my entire family rocks the yellow and reps our national team. All 3 of my kids and wifey got jerseys and paint their faces for games, and I even got my Puerto Rican in laws into soccer, huge James and Madrid fans as well as the NT lmao.

Choice? Kids want to make daddy happy, so they jumped on the bandwagon lol. I'm the only real Colombian in the house, but the love for the NT is strong

As far as U.S goes, I liked their 02 and 2010 teams. Those guys had heart and I had a lot of respect for Donovan and Howard. They were growing on my A LOT until Klinsman took over. His arrogance about revolutionizing the sport, changing the style, etc. All I see is more of the same, actually worse than they were before he took over. Hard to like this current team, it has no identity, no direction. Just a bunch of guys trying to out hustle the other team.

US soccer has a long way to go. Oddly enough, Americans are their own worst enemy. great majority still find soccer foreign or its just a game for kids and criticize it while favoring more traditional American sports.

now, I'm not sure where in Miami you grew up, but my experience tells me otherwise. Very few cases I see people "rejecting" the US. If anything most are grateful. They all just have their reasons for rooting on another country over USA.

Born in NY to Colombian mom and Japanese dad - but became a fan of the sport because of Colombia (spent most of my summers growing up there and going to watch America de Cali at el Pascual Guerrero as my uncle was a socio), so my first allegiance is also Colombian nt.

However, with the big gap in Colombian NT appearances I became a big fan of the US mnt too - especially the heart with which they play. I think the American Outlaws have created something very special too and a great culture around the sport here is emerging.

My wife is Israeli born, so our little guy has four countries to root for, the more the better I think!

Do you like the Japanese team? I took my fiancé to watch Korea and it was an awesome atmosphere. They get super into it and have a guy drumming the whole game.

Of course i support them, but the Japanese nt is very frustrating - very talented players that always seem scared. The women's side in the other hand is amazing and plays with great courage.

Ally M is a genius, Wambach is an animal and I wish the US could produce a dude that could cross as consistently and clean as Rapino...but the Japanese still beat them in that final, with a goalie that was barely over five feet tall...

You watching the NBA brother? What about the rest of the greengombianos?

I'm hoping Warriors win it. I just hate this late set up that the NBA has been doing since 2012 to maximize ratings because of the West Coast. Don't want to stay up until midnight to watch sports

Born in Colombia and raised in Queens, NY.

I root for Colombia regardless of their opponent. I'll root for the USNT team as long as they don't play Colombia.
