First race of the season Sat. I'm on direcTv and the race from Melbun in Ausieland starts at 9:30 pm, pst. But if you need an F1 fix then at 8pm that have "Mercedes race to 2015 or something. Sounds like they think they want to do it again. Then F1 pre race show. Then the race followed by F1 Extra. 4 hours of F1. Practice last night was interesting, top 4 were the 2 Mercs with the 2 Ferrari's. Rosberg and the whiney little kraut respectively. Button kept his job with the much heralded Honda McLaren but they hardly got out of the pit and were slow...So far. I'll catch the quallies tonight and be the tomorrow.
Good qualifying action, Mercedes dominated... Again. Faster on the hard compound tires than the rest on the soft. Massa for Williams was third over Vettell and Kimi. Danny Ricciardo finally got out of the garage long enough to get a respectable 7th. While the woefull McLaren/Honda should have stayed in the garage, they would be still in the same position on the grid. Looking foreward to the race tonight.
The first race never seemed to be in doubt (at least in terms of the top 2). It was the first F1 race I've watched in more than a decade. Trying to get myself educated about the top contenders and strategies since I have tickets for this season's 3rd race (not much time to learn in that case). Agree with your opinion on Hamilton - he comes across as a bit of a wanker. With him and Arnold S. standing next to each other on the podium, my douche-bag meter was off the charts!
Good time to get back in. especially with all the driver changes and new kids on the block. As well as the car changes. Tickets for the 3rd race. Jammy bastard... Well if you can't use them, my daughter lives and works in Shanghai. Just send the tickets my way........ Even with a 'very' short field it was really interesting. True to form Hamilton had it way under control from the git go with Rosberg holding the back door. Ferrari have found a couple more horses this year but are not there yet. I was pulling for Massa with Williams but can't figure out how he ended up behind Vettell. Their pit times were much the same. Kimmi's crew screwed up big time. Somebody got over anxious over time and it cost them points DNF isn't good. Big plus for me...and prolly McLaren/Honda, was to see Button finish and with a good last lap. That bodes well for them. What the hell is going to happen though when Alonso comes back and wants a car to drive. Magnusson isn't going to be happy. Seems strange Alonso going to McLaren after the way he shit on them and cost them millions when he left. I guess Honda insisted though. Yeah, going to a be good season. Next stop will be hot and sticky in Malaysia. Two weeks. Then China.

Back from China. Guess I ended up attending the most predictable of the 4 races so far this year. Bahrain was a very entertaining race, especially the dog-fight between Rosberg and Kimi. Good outcome too given what a prick Rosberg was between China and Bahrain. Funny moment during the race yesterday too. Not sure if you all caught it, Rosberg's team was regularly updating him on how quickly Kimi was catching-up to him. Finally Rosberg said "stop telling me how close Raikkonen is."

I dunno about that. Formula One seems pretty big in Germany. The fact that there isn't a race there anymore, while there is one in Bahrain, purely boils down to money (stating the obvious here). I'm pretty sure Vettel would get recognized if he walked down a street in Germany.

I keep hearing them argue about how to improve F1, about making it so there is more overtaking and it is less predictable. About how some teams dominate simply by having the largest horde of cash... and so forth. They want to tweak a dozen rules when it seems to me only one needs to be made and implemented: The aerodynamic configuration of the cars may not be changed through the season. No more small and thin wings for fast straight tracks and bigger wings for curvy tracks. Engineering is about compromise. The team needs to evaluate how they will get the best performance across the widest variety of races and lock it down. Some will say it is unsafe. Nope, it simply means some cars won't be fast at some tracks without losing control. So, they go slower, period. Big money teams lose a good bit of advantage because they can't customize the configuration to each track. Teams that can't compete strongly on one kind of track may be dominant on another type of track. More different teams on the podium, more interest because less certainty in the outcome. Should be more overtaking because some cars will perform better in the clearer air of qualifying than in the close confines of a race and be more vulnerable. They may even be able to get rid of the horrid DRS systems. The skill of a driver to get the best out of the set configuration at any particular track should be rewarded.
Wasn't a fan but I start to like this boy for not giving in to political games and paella eaters. Like his defiance. And he knows how some don't like it and start to twist things.
