Puebla beat Leon yesterday, which is bad news for UdG and Vazquez. UdG has two games left and still controls their own fate. I believe they need four points to guarantee survival.

Puebla has 104 points over the last three seasons (ultimately divided by 102 matches). UdG has 32 points (ultimately divided by 34 matches).

Relegation pt average for the end of the season based on results. Puebla has one game left and UdG has two

    UdG - 0 pts - 32/34 -- 0.941
    UdG - 1 pt - 33/34 -- 0.971
    UdG - 2 pts - 34/34 -- 1.000
    Puebla - 0 pts - 104/102 -- 1.020
    UdG - 3 pts - 35/34 -- 1.029
    Puebla - 1 pt - 105/102 -- 1.029
    Puebla - 3 pts - 107/102 -- 1.049
    UdG - 4 pts - 36/34 -- 1.059
    UdG - 6 pts - 38/34 -- 1.118

No idea what happens in the entirely plausible scenario where Puebla draws and UdG picks up a win and a loss in their final two matches, and they end up tied in the relegation table.

If this link is still current and if I'm reading it correctly (only read it quickly), then the tiebreaker appears to be goal difference in the 2014-15 season only. On that measure, Puebla is comfortably ahead.

They won their last game, but Puebla tied. Consequently, UdG was relegated on goal difference.

Vazquez ends the campaign with six starts and eight appearances as a substitute.

So hopefully this means he gets more playing time in the Ascenso, followed by a quick return to Liga MX.

Now in the second tier, Vazquez has gone 90 in all three of UdG's games. Tonight they won 7-1, and he scored the seventh.

Full game is here. Vazquez actually scored two goals in about a minute, but the first was narrowly (and I think incorrectly) ruled offside, which is a pity since it was a spectacular diving header. He also had an assist, where the pass wasn't much, but he made a great turn to shake a defender and then carry the ball into the attack.

I'm not convinced that our YNTs even know about this kid.

I'm baffled that this guy still hasn't gotten a U23 look.

He scored a goal last night before being subbed off at halftime.

Benji Joya is "just a little bit ahead" of him, no doubt.

I always forget about him when thinking of players that should get a chance with the U-23's. Maybe Herzog has done the same. He definitely has at least earned a shot.

La Joya Vasquez' goal starts at around 44:40 of the video, which is 35:15 on the game clock.

Also, I mis-read the game report; he didn't sub off until 74'.

Vazquez had 14 appearances (12 starts) in the 2016 Apertura down in Ascenso MX. He scored twice in five Copa MX games.

Between Liga MX, Ascenso MX, and Copa MX, he now has over 100 appearances for Universidad de Guadalajara at age 22.

Scored again (though it might be changed to an own goal for the massive deflection it took):
