Things can and will change in three years definitely.

I do think Dunga will persist with Miranda until he becomes a clear liability or gets injured though. Just as a "Felipao ignored him but I won't type thing." I never brought into the point that Atletico's system makes their players look good but its starting to look that way for several of their players as I started watching more of their games this year. Miranda especially looks like decline will be quicker rather than later like other CBs.

Lucas Lima is interesting. If Dunga can call up Robinho from Santos then he could do the same for Lucas. There have been rumors linking him to Italy and Portugal though so I don't know if he'll still be in the Brasileirão this season.

One thing that could hurt him is that he has no right foot at all.

At least it's not one of those Ganso situations where he has no right foot AND is useless without the ball at his feet.

I take back what I said. I think if Felipe Anderson or Lucas Moura end up having an incredible last stretch of the season, Dunga may call one up. Douglas Costa was hugely disappointing today. Maybe Dunga may resort to Everton Ribeiro or Ricardo Goulart but Middle East/Asia league goals don't equal Copa America goals. We need at least one more player whose sole job is to get us a goal from the bench.

We really have to get our backups ready to step up, because I don't know about anyone else, but I dont want a 35 year old goalkeeper, being 'protected' by a centerback pairing of two 34 year olds in WC'18!!

If Dunga likes FBs that hold their position, it's unthinkable to me that he'd like David Luiz.

Looking at the goal, Danilo made the pass to Firmino, who beat Medel. How fitting. The guy gets away with a red card stomp, handball in the box and now this.

After the game, he took a shot at Neymar by saying something along the lines of "things happen, some people continue to play and other belong in the theater." Well, by the looks of it, he thought he was in UFC with that stamp, volleyball with that hand ball and then time he was required to play soccer, he got beat.

As @Mengão86 said, it's not so much that Atletico's "system" makes their players look good, it's that they had a settled back 4 for so long, which is unusual these days, whether due to transfers, injury, age, etc. (This year Felipe Luis is gone though.) The longer a defense plays together the better they tend to look, because familiarity is very important there. I think that's the reason LvG did surprisingly well in Brazil too because he basically took Feyenoord's defense with him in 4/5 spots and just added Ron Vlaar. Things get easier if you're really familiar with the players around you. In that sense, I actually think David Luiz and Thiago Silva playing together for PSG will really help you. As a pairing, the two of them have been excellent for Brazil, since Thiago Silva is a wonderful complement for the things David Luiz lacks, and vice versa.

I don't know. I think Dunga is pretty chill when it comes to age of players. In an interview with Sport a couple of weeks ago said that age doesn't matter as long as you keep your fitness.
I just don't think Thiago Silva will be able to do so as he seems to be injured a lot and Miranda, to me, seems to be on a decline that'll only get worse in the next 2-3 yrs. Having Marquinhos on the team is good since he'll probably start in 2018 plus Wallace, Doria, and Gabriel Paulista are all young enough to make it to 2018 and 2022.

Jefferson hasn't shown any reason for him to get benched at all but I'd like us to go with Diego Alves because he is younger.

I pray every night he doesn't. I never want to see Hulk in a Brazil shirt again.

I do think we will see Hulk again before WC'18(shit if Dunga said Fred has a chance..then anyone does!!:p) Hulk is a 'Dunga guy' in that Julio Baptista, Josue mold!!

And I'm liking our kinda 4-6-0 formation!!

Could you also predict that we will see Alves while you're at it?

Sometimes you can't really trust what coaches say. He is probably just being political with respect to Fred. What's he going to say ? That there is no way he'd call him up ? What's the point of doing that ?

He often gets emotional and defensive. And yes, some of his answers don't even make much sense. :D
