The American carries the ball 40 yards, dribbles past Clarke, and fires narrowly off-target.— Gateshead FC (@GatesheadFC) March 3, 2015
A few more nice quotes: http://www.gateshead-fc.com/5330/gateshead-3-1-wrexham "Gooch, who jinked inside before bending into the top left-hand corner of the net with an immaculate strike" "The outstanding Gooch drove onto the byline before pinging a menacing ball across the face of the Wrexham goal. Tomassen looked to clear the danger, but could only slice into the roof of the net from a couple of yards out." "Eight minutes from time, the American was close to a memorable individual goal – carrying the ball 40 yards, dancing past the Red Dragons' Joe Clarke, before firing narrowly off-target."
Try as they might, Sunderland have quite a bit of competition who seem just as eager to be relegated.... This short Gateshead loan seems to be off to a good start for Gooch. A low-level loan like this doesn't really tell us much about Gooch other than establish a floor. If he couldn't contribute in the Conference at age 19, well, an EPL career would be very unlikely to be in the offing. If he does well, that's good - now let's move him up. Assuming his success continues, I think a loan to a League One might be appropriate.
Gooch's month-long loan at Gateshead is over. A summary from a few days ago. There isn't too much real insight or news here, other than a few highly anecdotal tweets from Gateshead fans that reflect well on Gooch. It's too late for much else this season, but a loan to a League One or League Two club next season would be a good next step for him.

Scored two goals for Sunderland U21 in a friendly against Boston United: http://www.safc.com/news/reserves-and-academy/2015/july/u21s-report-v-boston-united
The goals are here http://www.safc.com/ (just click on Boston 0 SAFC u21s 5 half way down the page). Gooch's goals are the last two.
Scored for the U21s: http://www.safc.com/news/reserves-and-academy/2015/august/u21s-report-v-norwich-citu Three minutes later USA U23 international Gooch was rewarded for his efforts with a goal of his own, as debutant M’Vila sent a sumptuous through ball towards the forward who finished with aplomb. M’Vila fired wide and Gooch was denied by a terrific point-blank save as Stockdale’s side looked to extend their advantage, but with 68 minutes on the clock the M’Vila was dismissed and the tide of the game turned in the Canaries’ favour. Sunderland U21s: Stryjek, J Robson, T Robson Agnew, Roberge, Beadling, Mavrias E Robson 86), M'Vila, Mandron, Gooch (Greenwood 82), Buckley (Smith 70). Substitutes not used: Brady, Talbot.
Sunderland look to be a complete disaster (again) this season. Any chance at some minutes with the big boys? If Fletcher and Defoe happened to go down at the same time, lord have you seen their options?
Scored today for the U21s: http://www.safc.com/news/reserves-and-academy/2015/august/u21s-beaten-by-reading
This guy has "Next Lletget" written all over him. Look for a massively successful move to MLS followed by an immediate MNT callup in summer 2018.
I know what you mean but Lletgets touch is pretty ridiculous. Gooch has decent technique especially for shooting so I hope he doesn't wait as long as Seb did to get first team minutes somewhere
In all seriousness, i can see him starting for Sunderland next year when they are in the Championship. No way Fletch/Defoe go down with them, and that leaves a nice little vacuum for our man Gooch to thrive.
Does anyone know yet what his position is? He has a good long range shot, but he hasn't really impressed me that much.
