There can only be one winner: River.

If anyone thinks another team is capable of winner please share and explain yourselves

You are speaking from your heart. Not that I blame you given your team has just won a continental cup. But that alone doesn't mean CARP will be the 2015 Libertadores champion.

Every year there are contenders. There are teams which surprise and teams which underachieve. Moreover, as the end-of-year reshuffling starts, teams will scramble to get rid of certain players and sign better ones. Not to mention new managers.

The Libertadores can be unpredictable. Or did anybody think Nacional of Paraguay would have gone to the final after eliminating Velez Sarsfield? Or that Bolivar would have gone as far as it did?

Each match must be played. Your team is at a good place and it will definitely be competitive next year. But there are no guarantees it will be the champion.

A serious group: we face last year's winners, a Uruguayan team, and possibly, Corinthians - which would be tough as it'd be 2 bitter crosstown matches, but we would only need to cross the city; no need for international travel.

For the Argentine clubs I think Estudiantes will just try and get a draw in the altitude against Independiente del Valle. They're going to play a much more defensive formation than they did in their clasico victory over Gimnasia on Sunday with 2 lines of four, and left back Alvaro Pereira moving into the midfield to add even more cover. If they get a 1-1 draw or even 2-2, i think they'll have no problem beating Independiente back in La Plata. Estudiantes is a very good team and dangerous

It would be great to see Huracan back in the Libertadores proper. I have to admit I know nothing about the level of Peruvian football these days, but I assume its very low considering their clubs make no impact in either the sudamericana or the libertadores for a long time now. Allianza is a big name, but I just think Huracan can do it.

Hopefully Corinthians gets past Once Caldas, it would be great to see a Sao Paulo derby in the group stages, and it would also be great to see CA$LA get kicked out of the competition early

Whatever. Preseason may just be preseason, but cinco pepas son cinco pepas. If it doesn't hurt, you're not a real fan.

As much as I dislike Corinthians, I would prefer that my team simply cross to the other side of town than to fly to Colombia. It'd be easier for the players & staff, and it'd certainly cost a lot less money. And based on Corinthians' 4th-place finish in the Campeonato Brasileiro and on Tite's return, I would bet Corinthians is preparing rather meticulously. I imagine Once Caldas will be very tough, but I see Corinthians advancing.

Interestingly, both teams failed the last (and only) time either played the Libertadores group stage playoff. Once Caldas lost to Internacional on a 3-2 aggregate in 2012, and Corinthians lost to Tolima with a 2-0 combined score in 2011.

If Corinthians advances, I think São Lourenço will have a lot to worry about. São Paulo now has Breno back, signed the player who denied your team the league title (Centurión), and we have also now announced Dória, who was with Olympique de Marseille (ironically, Dória got no playing time, despite having been signed at the request of your countryman Marcelo Bielsa). If the defense gels, we'll improve a sector which hurt us at key moments in 2014.

You're questioning me being a real fan? Ok pal... Of course it hurts, but if someone told me 3 months ago "you can beat boca in a semifinal of the sudamericana including a penalty save after 15 seconds in the match but you have to lose 5-0 in january in Mendoza" i would have signed that agreement in blood.

Also, if you read my post during the match saturday night I said while the score was 2-0 that if we had to lose 5-0 in order for Gallardo to pull out Maidana and Funes Mori from the starting 11 against CASLA i would take it. I still mean it. If River wins the Recopa, our 4th trophy in the last 8 months, no one will care ab the Mendoza game but you boca fans you haven't won anything in 3 years

    Grande Globo!

But seriously... Any Peruvian posters have any insight on Allianza? I know the game was played behind closed doors, but their level was embarrassing. Looked like a team from the B Metro (Third tier) in Argentina, perhaps worse.

For a bit of insight for non argentine posters, Huracan was playing in the B just 2 months ago and only made the Libertadores by winning the Copa Argentina- a competition none of the big clubs took seriously. They also won their last 3 rounds via penalties, so they weren't even superior in that competition. They hadn't even been in the Libertadores since 1974 and they walked into Lima and completely bitch slapped them
