To those of you putting kim tae young ahead of choi jin cheul, I don't blame you as I do find kty to be the better and more reliable defender. However, with hmb at 5"11 or whatever his height is, you need a bigger centerback lined up next to him for defensive and corner kick purposes (offensively and defensively). I don't recall kty being a tall defender he was probably hongs height. I thought about Lee jeong soo in the reserves but nah. And if I had to tweak my bench, I would put park joo ho for his versatility and just being a rock solid performer week in and week out. To those of you going yoo or pjs as the holding midfielder instead of putting kim nam il, shame on you. While Yoo was talented defensively, he's more valuable offensively as a distributor. Pjs work rate is impeccable but he's no kim nam il when it comes to the space between himself and the cm's in front of him as well as between himself and the defensive line. He did eventually become better passer but I would still have 2002 kni in my starting 11 to win the balls.
I've heard of him from my parents' generation a few times. A midfielder with a mullet-like hair, active in the 80s and 90s. There was this one ranking of Korean National team players of all time, and Kim Joo Sung was rated higher than the likes of Cha BK for his NT performances. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
My memories of him are only of when he was already past his prime, but I remember him being quite fast, with decent technique and good with both foot. Unfortunately could never cut it in the World stage though, and wasn't too successful in his brief spell in Bundesliga, either. Became quite a multi-player later on his career, sort of like Yoo SC.
google him pretty impressive player. sadly I was too young to appreciate him. trying to find highlights of him during his time at VfL Bochum
Ah, the infamous 야생마 (Wild Horse) due to his hairstyle and speed lol, his best performance was during his time at Daewoo Royals but after that he's pretty much had a goal drought. Not to mention that he was amongst the KFA Officials who failed at appealing Park Jong-Woo's '독도 Placard' case to the IOC and FIFA.
No, his job was to talk to the IOC and FIFA, that horrible letter was done by some 직원/낙하산 which was signed by that 병신 then KFA President Jo Joong-Yeon. EDIT: I still have this feeling that the letter was done by Hwangbo Kwan LOL.
Bielsa-esque... ---SHM-------CBK--- ----------LCY---------- ---LYP---YSC---PJS--- ----------KSY----------- KTY-----HMB-----CJC -----------LWJ---------- And, yes... I rate LCY higher than KJS simply because LCY has proven he can do it week and week out under tremendous amount of pressure and can score in the WC.

Cho Kwang-rae should be in the mix. Never caught his action live but heard that he was a brilliant play maker in the midfield from my parents' generation.

are you talking about the CB Lee Jung Soo? The one that scored two goals at South Africa 2010? I think he fell off the radar after 2011 Asian Cup. He's pretty old too.
Yeah i wouldnt mind swapping hwang sh for pcy in my lineup...hwangs the better scorer and consistent one at that. But pcy better in air and free kicker ability
We had a pretty good CB paring in Lee Jung-Soo, Cho Yong-Hyung, Kwak Tae-Hwi during the Huh Jung-Moo era, especially with both Kwak Tae-Hwi and Lee Jung-Soo being tall which put a lot of threat on set pieces while Cho Yong-Hyung was a pretty skilled CB. However, since both Lee Jung-Soo and Cho Yong-Hyung made a move to Qatar right after the 2010 WC campaign, their career with the NT pretty much looked very dim and gloomy, not only with the loss of form but especially with the rise of our young players in Hong Jeong-Ho and Kim Young-Gwon during the Cho Kwang-Rae era. EDIT: Remember Lee Jung-Soo was in his prime.
Man, if I recall during that era Cho Kwang-Rae did quite an amount of hocus pocus experimenting with the team i.e. Hong Jeong-Ho at DM, Kim Young-Gwon and Lee Yong-Rae at LB, Koo Ja-Cheol at LM/FW etc. However, in Lee Jung-Soo's case he was originally a forward during his Anyang days under Cho Kwang-Rae, but he was then later converted to a defender later on.
