Over the last year my interest has risen in women football. Granted, also as a result of some success and perspective from this NT. Women football is on the up in the Netherlands and I thought it deserves it's own thread. I start out with 1 thread for all women NT's, if it catches on and gets enough attention, more threads can be created. As of now we are half way the crucial qualification games that should lead to the WC that is played next year ion Canada. We just beaten Scotland in the first set of pay off games, now we play Italy in the second set: As Cruyff always says, Italy can't win from you, but you can lose from them. Would be typical to slip on this banana peel after a good qualification process so far. This was our result in the group: Norway was finalist in the last Euro in 2013: Netherlands was last in the group back then with the 2 finalists (tough luck): So obviously we did well in the group for example to beat Norway in Norway: And yes, Netherlands also beat Portugal with 7-0 in an away game. Portugal was even beaten 2 times, so obviously the men have to watch the women to see how you get such a job done. Anyway, next up is Italy: Let's Go.
Canada has an awesome defender in Sura Yekka. She's only 17 but is probably already one of the world's best
Italy ranked #13. NL is ranked #15. Looks like they have a good chance: http://www.fifa.com/fifa-world-ranking/ranking-table/women/index.html Also very depressing this womens Oranje team could beat my mens pubteam to a pulp....LOL
Netherlands will play Italy on November 22, 18:30 in the Hague. First of 2 games to qualify for the WC. Selection: Eshly Bakker (Ajax) Mandy van den Berg Dyanne Bito (Telstar) Angela Christ (PSV/FC Eindhoven) Anouk Dekker (FC Twente) Merel van Dongen (Alabama Crimson Tide) Danielle van de Donk (PSV/FC Eindhoven) Maran van Erp (PSV/FC Eindhoven) Loes Geurts (Kopparberg Göteborg FC) Stefanie van der Gragt (Telstar) Claudia van den Heiligenberg (Ajax) Petra Hogewoning (Ajax) Anouk Hoogendijk (Ajax) Dominique Janssen (SGS Essen) Kirsten Koopmans (Telstar) Desiree van Lunteren (Ajax) Lieke Martens (Kopparbergs/ Göteborg FC) Manon Melis (Kopparbergs / Göteborg FC) Tessel Middag (Ajax) Vivianne Miedema (Bayern München) Kim Mourmans (Standard de Liege) Jill Roord (FC Twente) Sherida Spitse (LSK Kvinner FK) Sari van Veenendaal (FC Twente) Kirsten van de Ven (FC Rosengård) Siri Worm (FC Twente) Head to head record is in favor of Italy: However look at the last 3 results: Netherlands won 2 and draw 1 in the last confrontations. Also, we have Miedema now and they have not. This is a good moment for her to shine. We are the upcoming team in Europe and should show this by knocking out Italy for the WC.
Already more than 10.000 seats have been sold for the game, a new record. Around 15.000 are available. Who knows, maybe they will sell out.
http://www.astream.tv/liveonline/1/...rlands-vs-italy-football-womens-football.html Stream for the match. Not working optimal for me, but maybe it does for others.
The nr 2 from Netherlands, I think she is called van Lunteren with something I have rarely seen in my life. Her pass was intercepted. Then she started to argue with the receiver, probably about her running pattern and not making herself available, then the Itaian just picked the ball up and ran at the back line to give a dangerous cross. Lunteren just forgot the rest of the game and was busy with a mistake. Unbelievable. So unprofessional.
I'm on this stream as well but it's pretty much unwatchable as it is constantly buffering. I don't have the patience to watch 3-4 seconds of football followed by 5-6 seconds of buffering. Maybe you are better in The Netherlands but I'm going back to my TV and Arsenal/ManU.
Yes, the stream sucks. I have the game live on TV, so obviously that is much better. There is no real stream for it I guess.
The Dutch players search for football in the small spaces, but they are not that super good in the small spaces. I admire the intention, just don't know if it the best thing for some players.
Stayed 1-1, so Netherlands has to score a goal over there and we all know that will not happen since we play damn Italy. Netherlands should have rewarded themselves better this game. Better second half, many people in the stance (14000) and still a shot at the WC.
